Very sweet of you to share these. I cant get this book in the UK it is out of print and to buy in the states will cost me $55 in postage which is a lot for a book you then have to chop up to get decent full size images from.

To be honest its worth owning for the drawings inside, and the text is quite essential if you are going to get the most out of these, particularly if you have nobody tutoring.

Would I be correct in understanding that actual scans from original plates are ok, since it is well past 75 years since Bargue's death, but scans from the recent book would be verboten since it is under copywright?

Does Bridgeman Art Co. Vs. Corell mean even the book's scans are *technically* legal? From past threads I take it that if so, scans from that source would still be unwelcome due to professional courtesey, correct?

Hey. great post, thanks for the prints, fantastic quality, its very kind!

TIDDLES, you may already know this but I am from the UK and just ordered this book from Amazon uk. You can also get them on Ebay quite easily from UK sellers. Not cheap but I am hoping it will be worth it.

wow! thanks alot for these, very helpful.

Any recommendations as for what size of paper to do these on? Standard A4? Maybe a larger scale is preferred?

    Hey Hydro.

You wanna do them the exact size your printouts are. print um out high res as large as possible 300px on A4 shoudl be good and tape a good sheet of smooth bristol or 100 percent rag right next to it and start rocking. Do yourself a favor and jump on Dorian's thread. He talks about the process for how to best learn from these baddies.

    Hope this helps.

Awesome random fact about Bargue, Van Gogh went through the drawing course 2 and a half times in his life. ALL THE PLATES! That's crazy...

Heh, everyone should follow his example and "do a Van Gogh" in this case.

Hi guys. I m new here. I ve been wanting to go through this course and found this thread. Seems pretty rad except the files i download from the links don t seem to be able to be opened with 7zip. It says theres an error when i try. Not sure if theres something wrong with the files or if i m just retarded with my comp. I did get the images from the picasa album and i m assuming thats only the first part of the book.

@ zou: Does the webalbum contain ALL files of the packed archives? (I could also not open the archives with 7zip. First one or all archives seemed to be downloadable, but broken like a CRC-error in RAR-archives.

    Hi all,

I recently started working with the Bargue plates. They are great material to work with. I understand that they are in the public domain, so I wanted to share my scans with you (for those who do not have direct access to the plates). Here's plate I-36 (it's a large file). Enjoy!

I got a copy of the book thru my local public library, thru inter-library loan. Your check out time is limited, but having the real book in your hand is pretty awesome.
