    Les Paul...

If you love any type of contemporary music produced in the last 60 years or so, the genius that made most of it it possible has died at 94. I grew up as a wee lad listening to Les' and Mary Ford's experiments with music and the new-fangled "EElektrical GEEtar," and because of it, learned early on that there were NO limits to what could be done with music...or the instruments used to produce it.

Thank you, Mr. Paul, and R.I.P...

He was a native of my hometown, and all the radio stations have been talking about this. Sad to see him go.

He lived a long life and contributed a great deal to things that made a lot of people happy, he will be remembered for it as long as there are electric guitars, the Gibson Les Paul is an immortal guitar.

My sketchbook is bigger than yours.

Holy Crap me too! Waukesha born and raised. They just finished a section at the museum for him too. It's too bad. What an amazing influence on the world.

That sucks. Dude was as influential in the development of the modern guitar as Hendrix was.

It was also that guitar you'd never be able to afford, but if you could you'd already made it so everything was cool..(seriously, played an LP custom, they're flawless for what they're supposed to do.A well made Custom is a thing of beauty..)

By way of tribute, here are some random white people playing a Les Paul really well..

Man... This sucks... I hope gibson honors him by putting out a run of LP's that are good quality without being custom shop price.

    Amen.

At least he lived a long and fruitful life, and didn't die before his time like so many of the best and brightest (like Randy Rhoads in the the post above mine).

Listening to an old John Foggerty record right now, dad gave it to me... I was thinking "I bet he plays a Les Paul"

    I was right!

Is it just coincidence that Gibson, the worlds tallest dog died the same day?

RIP mr Paul, you brought many a long day to a close.
