I felt a little down last week and didn't draw much. It's hard when you're not sure if you are improving or not, and I've got education so I don't really have someone helping forward. But Im just gonna fucking stick at it and stop letting things like that bother me.

Anyway, after a few beers on friday, and inglourious basterds on sunday I feel better! So here's some stuff I did last night.

I usually work in photoshop, but I decided to give painter a try and did this greenish girl. I really love the way the brushes feel but I feel like I have no real control, atleast not for detail, using broad strokes is fine.

The last two are just doodles, I'm constantly trying to improve drawing the figure from my mind so I just did a quicke.

lolbbq: Thanks! I think it's just a regular gouche in Painter. I'd send it to you if I knew how Painter is a mystery to me.

Arthur 'Two Sheds': You are correct sir! Thanks. And I actually do do quite a bit of natural sketching but it's so annoying that you have to fill in all that crap when you attach images, it takes forever, so I usually just post some of my digital stuff because its faster.

Sorry for not updating btw. I was away this weekend and couldnt get any sketching done. But im really gonna try to crank out some stuff this week.

Anyway, found a few sketches i did last week that I thought I'd share. Also finished this week's chow, Napoleonic Naval Hero.

heyo! Started with this weeks chow today. Not quite sure about it but I'll try to work some more on it tomorrow. If it doesnt work, ill toss it..

Also, here's some studies. The two on the right where done from memory and the other ones are from life. 2-5 min each. My gf likes to move around :o
The one on the top left looks reaaally weird, she was twisting her leg like crazy, didn't know it could be done :p, and her pants where folding in a weird way.

On a side note, I'm going to be attending my first ever life drawing class (6 sessions) starting in two weeks. Can't wait!

    hi gerezon,

thx for voting my chow entry i realy like your entry.
specialy the steeds shading is realy cool - rusty and metal skinned.

great textures in your paintings. maybe keep working on your
lines like in the last drawing with the woman on the couch -
i think that could improve your work.

    huge update!

I sort of abandoned the sketchbook because the attachment editor is so tedious.. but I figured i'd just upload them somewhere else and link to them. So heres what i've been doing since the last post... ages ago.

Kristo Novo Hey man, thanks for stopping by and thanks for the tips =) You deserved the vote, thought your piece was neat!

Cool character concepts. I think you could push the value ranges abit tho, they feel a little to close in the saturation space if you know what i mean. Original ideas, that will have to go into my inspirations folder ;-)

Hey gerezon, finally a SB from you I've noticed you in CHOW before and really like your work. The last one is amazing and I love the coloring, it's a really nice picture and the character really fits into the environment. Also, love LOVE the PipBoy pic

Just one teeny crit - in the life drawing pictures the head looks a bit small but that's not such a big problem. Anyway, keep up the good work, du är mycket bra! (did I say that right? I'm kinda learning Swedish on my own and it's not easy so If I'm making a fool of myself please do say so )

Heres a little update from me! I've quit my job and I'm studying full time at Atelier Stockholm. I'm three weeks into it and I'm really enjoying it so far. We're pretty much only working on bargue copies at the moment, and I just finished my second one on monday and started on my third and last one in pencil (the belvedore torso I think its called). Its a pretty tough one but it's going pretty well I think.

The Whistler : Wow thanks! Your comment really made my day when I read it (ages ago, I suck at updating this ) You got that swedish exactly right Tack så mycket!

Its hard keeping up with posting on my blog and here, but im gonna do better!

    Random pages from my sketchbook:

    Some digital stuff

First bargue (sorry for the crappy phone pics)

    Second bargue

    Sketch for this weeks chow:

Stunning work so far,the colours are beautiful, the studies are on the spot and your ideas are amazing too!
Your pencil work kinda reminds me of Marco Djurdjevic.
    Keep going!

May I ask where do you get your reference for your studies? Thanks!

DSmith Wow thanks alot, its not right to compare my work to Marko, he's like my hero! As for the reference, when I start on whats going to be a more finished illustration I like to read up a little bit on the subject, then just sketch from imagination, and then when I like my idea ill get some more real reference if needed. Its usually just google I use, nothing special.

Heres my latest character of the week.

Sorry for not updating more often, i've got a huuuuge pile of stuff from school thats waiting to be uploaded, but i'm too busy drawing.. I'll promise to better myself

Anyway, heres two drawings inspired by the techniques of Veronique Meignaud, I hope they don't feel I'm copying her, I just fell in love with the way she drew in the download tutorial here on ca.

I really enjoy your CHOW 190. The colors and texture are great but her right leg seems a little odd...?

Great sketchbook...looking forward to more posts! =)

Good to see you posting again, really like the 20 mins figs from post 26.

Only suggestion would be just watch your anatomy and porportions, maybe pick up a good anatomy book like Peck, or Brigeman or check out The Mentler on this site if you haven't already.

    keep at it

    Hey guys!

Thank you so much for the comments, I'm really glad you like some of the stuff!

brentos8 Thanks man, I have been studying a ton of anatomy but i'll keep at it I hope it shows, for instance the quicker figure drawings in the last post where 30 sec to 5 minutes, unlike the 20 minutes from before. And yeah, bridgman rocks, Im a big fan and have all his books.

The pictures in the last post range from 8 months back to 2 months back. I have like a billion of figures done since then (we have a model for atleast 3-4 hours every day), ill try find the time to upload
