Cool concept artists= obviously destined to become polymaths

    http://www.scientificamerican.com/bl...-of-2009-08-07

I saw this article on my IGoogle page this morning and found it very amusing.

I spent most of my childhood drawing silly imaginary maps and populating them with imaginary cities and imaginary creatures, only I didn't ever grow out of it and decided that I wanted to become a concept artist. Thanks Scientific American! Now I can feel really good about myself knowing that this "world play" is a sign of true genius. I thought some of you might also appreciate this ego boost.

I am glad that there is an entire industry dedicated to creating other worlds to interact with. A lot of people would be bummed out without it.

And my dearest mother was just worried when I sat there creating imaginary people in imaginary worlds in an imaginary solar system part of an imaginary galaxy. Woot.

Haha, that's awesome. I'm glad to hear other people did this as well. I thought I was a weirdo. My dad used to bring home reams of the old dot-matrix printer paper, and I would get 4 or 5 sheets and just start drawing a coast line, with little fjords, and rivers, and then fill in with colored pencils where the mountains and trees where. I always loved imaging whole civilizations populating those places with languages, and funky buildings. Anyway, cool to hear that's actually a "thing"

People who created imaginary worlds are geniuses now? That's cool. I remember creating worlds for comics since I was at least six, sure they influenced a lot by the cartoons I watched but that's not the point.

Creating worlds is fun; I'm really having a blast creating the world for my comic. I'm glad to hear that there were more people into this when they were little too.

Congratulations fellow geniuses. Now if I can only be Dr. Ryuartyi; that would be cool.

Geez, you NEED to be a genius to be able to juggle all those rules.
