I have to say I like the frog too. What equipment are you using? I never tried drawing on a computer.

Great work so far! For a suggestion, I'd like to see more value studies from observation. Keep up the good work!

    Nice studies, more!
The live studies and the anathomy will give you ability to do better drawings. Do not forget to do color too.

You're really good at guns! and you got some good shading/value skills^^

And value studies are really good but it's important to get the basics done first.
I'd keep working on anatomy and proportions, try the online croquis page http://www.posemaniacs.com/ (if you don't know it already ; p )

just sketch like crazy : p

Ricardo Robles: Thanks, I will try to focus on color a little more then, might get that alla prima color theory book (forgot the artists name though)

Kawauchi: Thanks for the kind words, I use posemaniacs every now and again, but not enough, your right about basics too, im not even scraping the surface either, I will post some posemaniacs tomorrow just for you

Today I wasn't really home so I had to wip up this Wip up in about 20 miutes or so, I will post the finished version either tomorrow or the next day, might start to focus on anatomy again, these studies are so much more fun though

I see that you have a nice variety of stuff here but you must be careful and not spread yourself too thin. I say this because you're at a very early level of development. It's better to focus on just a few things when you're starting out. First you should think about what you wanna be. I'm assuming you want to be a concept artist like most people on here. If this is the case then you want focus almost exclusively on building your knowledge of human anatomy. This is going to require a period of intense study; once you get to the other side, you'll be able to draw whatever you want with relative ease.

Study bones, muscle, and forms. Check out Vilppu, Bridgman, Loomis (which you have already come across I see), Posemaniacs, and pick up Anatomy books for artists. They are plenty helpful!

The world is yours. Cease it!

The value study turned out very nice. I agree that it could use a wider range of value but looking at the original photo, it looks like you reproduced the values pretty accurately. So maybe next time choose a subject that has a wider range to practice pushing your values and contrast. Keep up the good work!

The original E: Thanks, I will

Dierat: Thanks, I will make sure the next one has more contrast

Well I decided to give the 30 seconds challenge on posemaniacs a go, I don't think it was a great idea, maybe it will help me get better even though none of these resemble the human figure in the slightest. I might give it another shot in a month or so, atleast this way I will be able to see my progress

Those from posemaniacs? Whatever the source, they show dynamism in movement. Awesome!

So, you're the man with no name, huh?

Do... you.... also own a horse with no name?

Your work shows you are very organized and pay attention to detail. That's a very good asset. I liked entry #23 very much (the nude).

Work on those posemaniacs... they will help you imprint the pose in your mind instantly.

I think those 30 sec studies actually show that you have very good observation skills. They seem to have their feet and shoulders and head on more or less the right places. Not easy at that speed, so that's great. Also your studies are coming along very well. Keep it up!

Indeed, those posemaniacs are very good for 30 seconds, for your first attempt! Detail is unimportant in these quick studies, only the general pose/gesture. And you seem to have captured it quite well. Perhaps you should try the occasional longer, more careful construction and rendering of a few poses for practise.
