    Jaro's Sketchbook

Hey guys! Well, after spending hours browsing these forums I've finally decided to bite the bullet and join in. I'm pretty much in awe of so much of the work that gets posted here as well as the dedication people have to their art and their desire to improve. So, although it's intimidating I'm hoping that posting some of my own work and having pressure to keep updating will give me the kick up the butt that I need.

Ok, to start things off here's some stuff I've done recently. I was inspired to do the portraits after seeing Zhang Lu's work, used photo ref with a few of them. I hope to be able to draw people from imagination as well as he can one day...

Ok, that's all for now. It's been a while since I showed anyone my work so I look forward to hearing what people think. Crits are very welcome.

jigje: Thanks bud, with any luck it won't go all downhill from here.

ArtZealot: Cheers, I look forward to updating.

JMonsterDesign: Ha ha, yeah. He's not very nice. I can't take all the credit for the portraits though, I was trying to emulate Zang Lu's style to some extent. Thanks for the kind comment!

    snoopalu: Thanks, I will!

Just a small update, some anatomy studies and some very quick little portraits of various people. I'll try to have something more interesting to post for next time!

    B-Man: Thanks!

Sirkenneth: Glad you like it mate! More colour? But that's haaaarrrddd. Can't I just shut my eyes and hope that the colour pixies do it for me?

Chaser226: Glad you approve Mr Chase! I'm feeling inspired to do more figure studies after seeing your sketchbook.

AvisNocturna: Thanks Avis! Yeah the portraits were fun. I'll attempt some in colour a bit later.

luness: Cheers Luness! I want to do some creature concepts soon, hopefully they'll turn out half as badass as yours.

Small update! here's a sketch I've been working on for my first CHOW piece. Looks to be a fun one. Any feedback is much appreciated. Let me know if it's a bit too gruesome and I'll add some butterflies.

I love all the details, here and there, that let us know she's a killer prom queen. It is a sketch (an impressive one, btw) so I suppose you'll work a bit more on the blood stains (there are some brushes available online that you could modify a bit and use them for that).
While scrolling down one thing caught my attention and it was that under that dress, her legs seem to end in something similar to wood planks. Maybe because the lower part of the dress is defined with some straight lines on both sides. Adding some folding variation or just using more curves might help; but it's a personal thing. It looks fantastic just as the way it is right now.

    Good job, cheers!!!
