Thanks for the comment ANGRY! Always good to hear people enjoying the work!

Ok now this post is a little different, I've been slowly trying to get my head around oil painting, I feel I've lost out not learning to paint traditionally before moving to digital, so as a first step I painted the YRMBCG colour wheel and value bar in oils which I found first mentioned in James Gurneys blog here: http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.com/20...el-part-7.html

Its not quite as accurate as I would like, but its a start! I Learned a lot about colour mixing and I'm surprised how much the camera messes with the colours! More to come.

Sorry, attachment wasn't working so I tried IMG tags. I see now they don't work but browser cache shows it on my screen. I notice now that plane shapes can be rather odd geometry-wise. I guess part of the trick is to see them despite their oddness.

    The PO...

    Female Head Studies

Over the next week I'll be doing as much of an in depth study as I can on the female face, skull shapes, features, muscle/fat and other different parts to gain more of an understanding of how all of it fits together, as I'm lacking when it comes to being able to paint the female face well and accurately.

Here's the first part, skull sketch's and a small render to better understand the differences in the female skull to the males. Muscle structure and fat tomorrow.

Ok now comes the muscle structure, I spent a little longer then I wanted to on this due to the research involved and trying to get the muscle placement correct. I now have a slightly better idea of how things are constructed and the shapes involved. More to come soon!

Nice work. Your studies seem pretty tight so far - particularly your gestures.

Just a quick update of some of the warm up sketchs I do, sometimes I'll pick an artist that inspires me and create sketchs close to the same style to try and understand more about the artist works, these were influenced by that great caricature artist, Jason Seiler

Nice studies, I especially like the picasso like head in the last update on the left. Your faces are too big for the heads at times, so they look a tad too comicky for me. Keep going and improve!

@Janos: Yeah I see what you mean, I was trying for some caricatured work, so everything is exaggerated slightly, still need a lot more practice! I'm glad you like the picasso head, I was quite fond of it as well, I'm thinking of doing a few sketchbook pages full of them!
