    Thanks a lot guys!

    So here's the next update on my wip:

    • adjusted the proportions
    • changed the position of the bag a bit
    • tried to add some subtle blues here and there
    • added some brighter yellow to the sunshine rays
    • added some rough leaves and some grass

    Any thoughts?

    Looks good to me! The only thing bugging me is the thing he's cutting. Is it wood? I'm not quite sure why it's white unless you're intending for it to be a white wood, but unless it's really important for it to be white, I would consider making it brown and maybe adding some grain to it and defining some solid planes. (If it were brown it would be more recognizable as wood and it would also stand out better against his shirt.) Right now it looks like a stone to me because of the color and the smooth shape/texture. Keep up the good work!

    Hey, dierat! Thanks again for a super helpful post!

    I worked on the wood and I'm actually quite content with it now. For the first time that thing looks like wood! Yay!

    Also painted the background - I pretty much like the impressionist feeling. So I'll probably keep the final version a little rough.

    If there's still something wonky or awkward or terribly effed up, let me know.

    Well just look at that!!
    The wood looks so nice now!! But i think the little bits on his pants need more detail.

    About the arms..i see the left one has come very nice together, just near the hand: i still think it's to sudden, how it's bind like that...or the folds are a bit weird? i don't know for sure but you could try folding a cloth like that and see?

    Take care~

    Dierat Thanks!

    BlackDelphin Thank you! Yeah, I'm still working on the details. For the sleeve let Mr. Depp help you: Yo ho, I'm a Pirate! Couldn't think of anything better so I googled for pirate shirts as reference. Probably should add a few more of those tiny folds?

    There might be good to be some sharper cuts on that shard of wood like this -->

    Hi Pretty_Angel. Your last piece is coming along very nicely! I really dig your colours and rendering. It might just be me, but I think that his head and hands could be made a bit larger, the proportions are just slightly off at the moment in my opinion.

    I'm happy to do a quick edit of your image, just to show you what I mean. I don't want to post any images here without your permission and mess up your sketchbook.

    Either way I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece!

    I think you had the right idea with the foreshortening but you may have just overdone it slightly. Seeing as I'm the first person to comment on it, I may just be imagining things, so feel free to ignore me completely!

    Thumbs up

    Hi. Good SB you have going here!

    I was surprised to be greeted by someone that looks like a cross between David Bowie and Sting in your first pic

    You have some really good ideas, and I like the cleanliness of your lines. Your studies of heads are really good, too.

    I do think you need some work on eyes overall, as they relate to the head. Once you got to this post, they had improved though.

    I was going to say something about the man under the tree having too small of a head :o but it seems you fixed the proportions in the Aug. 6th post of yours. Looks like that will be a nice piece

    Thinking connects desire with creation.
    How good are you?

    Sorry for being so inactive for a while. I was busy writing an essay for Art History and doing sketches for TEAM CHOW! I also did some sketching but I'll wait until I have enough for a new sketchdump thingy.

    Jaro Thank you very much for your edit! It was very helpful and I hope I got it right this time.

    p sage Thank you very much! Yeah, I still have my issues with the eyes. Should do more studies! *puts eye-practise on to-do list*

    BlackDelphin Hope the wrist is ok now?

    Growling, TayMC, DeeStar, bakadoodle Thank you so much guys!

    ariel_medel Thanks for the link! *bookmarked*

    New WIP! Promised to slap some paint on one of my sketches to a friend. Very early stage with terrible anatomy and everything. Feel free to shred it into pieces or paint over with funky colours!

    I'm no good at anatomy, so I could be totally wrong about this, but I feel like his right arm (our left) could handle being longer in the top half and the ear could be moved slightly towards his face (right now it feels to me like it's attached to his neck instead of his jaw). Keep at it!

    You're getting there, but there seems to be something wrong with the shirt..the folds perhaps?
    But then again there's something about the proportions that is bugging me, though i can't quite put my finger on it..

    I shall await a new update!

    dierat Thanks for the hints! The ear was easily fixed, cause it was rather a problem of the lighting. The arm... we'll see. I worked on further on the anatomy.

    Christina Yeah, the shirt wasn't really my focus yet. Also worked on anatomy and tweaked the pose. Hope it looks better now.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ok then, we hit the deadline of TEAM CHOW II and we're done with everything. Although we probably won't win it's great to see the result and that we made it despite all obstacles.
    You can find our group post in the Final Burning Thread.
    So here are some of my sketches. We played around with African themes. The Satyr characters finally made it.
    Name:  Team-Chow-Sketchdump.jpg
Views: 181
Size:  328.8 KB
    Sekino then made the lines for the Satyrs; the Rhino was sketched by 3mMajster and lines drawn by AsaB. I coloured them:
Size:  330.2 KB
    Last but not least my WIP.
    Name:  Morning-WIP-3.jpg
    I think I solved some of the anatomy issues. Looks less awkward now.
    Yep, yep definitely looks better now! The shirt and the anatomy are better of course. Now, i just think the angle of that left arm is a bit somehow off...is it me?
    And like i said on dA, i really like the sketches and that zebra chick
    Izer Thank you! :3
    Christina Thanks! Ehm, which arm do you mean? His left or the left from viewer's pov? XD In any case I posed in front of the mirror to check them. The basic pose seems to be ok to me. Though I don't look very manly and muscular - so that might cause some flaws. I'll look more into that!
