The best part of knowing just a little of anatomy is that you can create impossible characters, well .........anatomycally impossible

    ^^ no idea ^^

But thanks for the advice on my SB.

One question, when you start a drawing of a human/alien, do you start out with the muscle structure first from scratch and then put down details?

And what did you read/study to understand anatomy. Or did you just keep scratching down pictures of muscle structure?

Look before muscles or whatever, first you should start with the intention, then the structure, then you realize which muscles show and which do not.
to understand anatomy, well I haven't understood anatomy yet, that's my goal. But what I've done is just copying from books and then I try to draw from imagination,
A shortcut to understand anatomy would be visiting this page http://www.visiblebody.com/

Thanks for the comment on my SB. I think your still life studies (the cloth, banana's etc) are really great, but some of your unreferenced chaacters are looking a bit off proportion-wise, i'd just say just spend a bit more time to get the proportions down first as anatomy is useless without it. Keep it up!

    Hi CA.org thanks to everybody.
glaudarien: you're right anatomy is useless with wrong proportions
gliederpuppe: the creature in the wall cost me around two weeks but now I see that should have planned it better, the intention is wrong, the proportions are off, I guess only the idea is ok.

Nice studies man but you should get rid of some of the hard outlines as they flatten things. You want the illusion that some of these edges curve round. Keep it up!

    GOOD WORK

YOUR WORK IS GOOD NO DOUBT BUT MY ADVICE IS THAT U DON'T USE GRAPH METHOD. THIS METHOD MAY SOUND SIMPLE AND MAKE US THINK THAT WE WILL LEARN QUICKER AND BETTER BUT ACTUALLY ITS REVERSE. TEACH YOUR EYES TO CALCULATE THE RELATIONS .

Bendragon: I do the hard edges just for motives of study, when passing to next step you can do anything you want whether keep the hard edges or remove them, but thanks for the advice
extremeillustrator: Yes you're right when using the graph method we're using the left side of the brain, and you don't learn to calculate relationships, on the other hand we have drawing on the right side of the brain which does teach you that, the key is in not getting stuck in neither of these methods but to learn to use both at the same time

keep going mate your doing fine, The street fighter drawings look like they helped a lot. May help to try some pen drawings to get your lines less 'hairy' and more intentional.

Here's the Lex Luthor painted with other technique, I think it's really better than the last one, but you judge............

hey, I like the roughness of your sketches!
I suggest trying to ignore the lines more
when you render them up with colour.
    bye

    Hi there.

I see you are still with your body studies. What sources are you using?

I found this book called 'An Atlas of Anatomy for Artists' by Fritz Schider to be quite helpful. The book is dirty cheap on Amazon now, so if you don't have it I'd suggest you buy it!.

    Keep the hard work!.
