    Marker question..

I was looking into buying a small set of gray markers..I was just wondering out of curiousity, how long will a marker last for before it needs to replaced generally?

and also, in a completely unrelated rant..

Ive been practicing simple drawing technique with whatever pencil I can find everyday..but I dont seem to be getting anywhere..should I purchase other pencils to try to expand my boundaries, or wait until I get the basics down first?

Damn..I hate sounding like such a "noob".

How long markers last? Do you really expect an answer to this question? It depends, of course. It depends on how much you draw, on the paper you use, on the brand of the markers you buy, on the climate you live in...

As for the pencils - draw with whatever you get hold of. Good tools are nice, but it's not the tools that make you an artist. On the other hand - a real artist (meaning someone who has talent as well as practised for years) can produce art with anything.

Hope this helps - browse this forum and see what tips other people got already, you'll learn a lot from this (and also which questions have been asked - and answered - before).

If you don't end up using a marker for long time, but store it in a proper place...they can last for years. One of my instructors used to sometimes do demos with markers from over 20 years ago, because he liked the feel of them. They stank, but they worked just fine...

    markers

They could last up to 2yrs or more if unused.

This is not a big concern for us since were billing for
the markers included in the cost of the job.
at $100 dollars a storyboard frame we are not
    to concerned about that.
