    Thumbs up

Hey, I thought that I could help you a little with the values of your female character, so I did a paint over to better ilustrate what you could improve (the values I painted are too dark, they could be much lighter, normally with those light conditions you should leave very dark values for only specific places).

You can memorize the value scale in 9 values, this will help you get correct values, or better ones at least. Try memorizing those 9 values as you would memorize anatomy, it will help you tremendously.

The other thing you have to keep in mind is that there should be a darker value between the directly lighted side and the ambient light side also called the side in shadow, see the cilinders I drawn for you. The first two are OK, the last one is not ok because it is just a constant scale of values. Try adding a dark value in the middle of those two areas and it will give a better sense of volume. Check andrew Loomis explanation too: http://fineart.sk/index.php?s=72&cat=15

I hope that helps, and keep up the great work.

Eric the angle on the head is a bit wonky. The crown of the skull is too high; the head is not so much rectangular boxed shape as it is a steep slanted box. It makes it look as if the spine and head are not connected.

Try a less drastic angle for the long line on the top of the head, and lower the crown of the head a bit. I think that would fix it. And show the underside of the jaw, not the top of the head. Our eye level is about shoulder high here, so we shouldn't be able to see the top of the head.

This stuff is better. It looks like you're formalizing the figures using straight lines. Nice.

Just keep working, and don't forget structure. Always try and think in 3D... the force will be with you.

Progress is great. Just keep pushing yourself! I think your color stuff could use a bit more loving, especially with value and edges, but that's stuff I need to work on too.

    Loving the fantasy characters.

Hey! Thanks for the comment in my sketchbook.
Your anatomy is doing pretty good so far, but I think you need to work on facial anatomy a little more. You tend to make the noses quite large, especially on the woman you painted. Your moleskin pages are getting better all the time, and your linework is looking good! Keep at it, but maybe just do the occasional face study, or self portrait. Perhaps some still life pieces to see some more colours.

It's good to see you working hard, Eric. You're definitely going to file your way through Van Gogh's invisible iron wall if you keep this up.

Might be the smallish head and lack of shoulder harness & neck muscles (trapezius, etc)

It's a nice idea tho and good color scheme
