    Mayan Mystery Illustrated Reference Book

I haven't done much work on my video game lately because I've been putting together a little book that will give more detail about the creatures and surroundings in the game itself. This is the first big batch of stuff! Some of these pages are in another thread of mine, but I thought in the aske of tidiness, I'd keep all the book-related things in their own spot...All the creatures and bosses are drawn up, along with a couple maps. I'm planning on adding more level maps (as they get designed!), along with a bunch of pages of different locations and situations encountered along the way...and probably a special page for the character, Mitch, for good measure.
All these things have been drawn with an ink pen, then scanned and coloured with Photoshop. If you've never tried an ink pen before, I highly recommend it, they really are fun to use!

I'd like to hear what you guys think of this as a concept and as art itself!!

    Fantastic work.

It reminds me of when me and a friend of mine use to sit down and try and design our own Mega Man bad guys and levels. The style that is, this of course is not Mega Man

I really enjoyed going through all of that work tho.
    Thanks for sharing.

Ooh, this is so fun! I love the drawings and the side comments ("the skull demon is a lousy card player" - haha). The dungeon layout reminds me of Zelda but definitely with its own look and feel. I'll have to try out the game!

I'm glad that you guys liked what I've got finished right now, it's been a blast to draw! This whole project with the game and art was heavily influenced by the NES games of old (Mega Man and Metroid in particular). I just wanted to bring a little of those days back, but in a style that hopefully young and old alike can enjoy....Anyhow, here is the good guy page to finish up the cast of characters. The next step will be the story part of the deal!

All right, so here is the very first page in the actual story portion of the book! I'm only about 80% sold on the way I've faded the scene into the page itself so that part might change, but unless anyone can point out some glaringly horrible problem, I'm calling it done

    MAJOR Update!!

No updates in a long while it seems...until NOW! The past couple weeks I've been busting my balls to get this done, and can finally, FINALLY call it ready (for initial testing that is!) It's a bit of a stretch posting it here, but as it all ties into itself (the books, the art, the game, the story etc) I figured that it's as good a place as any That, and I know there are more than a handful of people who love retro-style games. Hopefully it is something the young, and young-at-heart can appreciate together!
And now I can go back to drawing
