    Character Design - opinions required

    Hello all

Looking for some opinions on what works better out of the following two images, plain background or a shadow image. I can't decide; I think the 2nd one detracts from the central character a bit but also think the white BG looks a bit bare.

Any suggestions for alternatives? It's a character showcase so I wanted to avoid a detailed background (or even an undetailed background).

Crits would be welcomed also. Is it ready to be chucked in the portfolio?

instead of using a plain white background try taking a light color, which you didnt use much on the character, or a grey, and turn the opacity down until you get a tone that you like, and fill the background with that. If you do the shadowed image try taking an extremely dark grey or maybe midnight blue, and fill in the white around the shadowed image to draw it out more. try both and see what you think
