    New Born - The Begining

Hello! This would be my first post in CA and I've decided to join in the fun!
    My story is as below:

Recently there was a great earthquake in the pacific ocean and it had triggered one of the worst tsunami in human history.
It was believed that the volcanic activity is the cause of the earthquake but no one was able to determine the main cause as there were some very strange readings from the source.
No one had ever seen this kind of readings before.
The government then decided to send a team of marine researcher and investigator to the source of the earthquake to further investigate.
One of them made a shocking discovery...

Here are some of my early sketches, critiques and comments are most welcome!

Welcome to CA! Looks like a very promising image. My one critique is that the large boulder behind the marine should be moved a little to the left so that it doesn't obscure the figure and mess up the composition.

Hey there Liffey, thanks for pointing them out! FYI, I've already made some changes to the boulder that you've mentioned including the value to give it more depth.
Nevertheless, many thanks for your constructive comment! Cheers!

    Looking good.
I suggest maybe putting maybe one or two things in the foreground, somewhere that wont disrupt or obscure the main image, but to add some more depth to the painting as a whole.
And It's be nice to see a ship wreck somewhere in the mid-ground, just to add an air of mystery: was it there anyway or did this thing do it etc?
cant wait to see how this comes along

Lovely mood you have got going and the composition and creature deisgn is very good too. I think it needs something to give a snese of scale to the scene though. Great work - look forward to seeing more.

Hello, thanks for all the great comments and suggestions guys! Somehow I'm still not satisfied in terms of the sense of scale. I'll keep you guys posted! Cheers!

it's a great feel you've got going with the underwater scene, there's alredy a sence of unease before you even notice the creature, nice work, waiting for more.

Wow great job on this, you handled underwater very well. I was struggling with it the whole time, but there's some really nice atmospheric perspective on this. Good luck!

I liked the mood of this scene very much... it looks quite calm despite the presence of other marine creatures...

To be honest it has just been lovely to watch the development of your piece, I think you have captured the mood of the environment extremely well. Good luck.
