This is a character that is going to be in a webcomic called Vacant coming out this summer on my website ImagineTheEnding.net

I'm not totally in love with the coloring I did. Oh well. His skin color turned out nice.

A picture of Hayze, another character for Hayze. I was going to color this one like Aex, but I might draw another one so I can use more dramatic lighting.

This is the last three pages I did for Klaus Janson's class. I really wanted to interpret Batman in my own way so I did. I'm pretty happy with it for the stress level and lack of time I had. It still could have been better though.

Syph from a project I am working on called Vacant (like described in other posts). As you can tell I kind of shied away from backgrounds. Something I still really need to work on.

    Great sketchbook.

Very talented in skill and in conceptualizing original ideas. I look forward to seeing some of you comics in the future

[my sketchbook] I'd appreciate any critiques and comments I could get on my sketchbook!

Just wanted to show my appreciation for this GREAT artwork. I hope I get where you are within a couple of years. I think(but not sure) that my favorite is the "cut off his wing" one.

Even though you don't post any foundational studies, your grasp of the basics shows a lot. It's awesome how you can switch your style from something cartoony to that batman comic.

I would somewhat agree with gothicspork. You do show in your work the basics but I think you can still work on improving your foundation skills. Improving your foundation skills will still help you regardless of style. Everyone can always get better at the basics. It's always important to keep those skills up.

I really like your style though and feel like your watercolor skills are improving.

Thanks, guys! Actually the only reason as to why sketches aren't up is because all of my sketches are on bigger paper and I never get around the scanning them. I have oodles and oodles of nude sketches.
What I do need sketches of dearly is backgrounds. Recently I've been told about the errors in my figures so currently have been trying to improve those. Especially my hands.

I change styles often to keep my mind going. First I studied realism, and then went cartoony. The only reason why I went back to a life like style again was to improve major errors in the body. Also, my most recent story fits the realistic-ish style better than cartoony.

It's been a couple years since I first created Vacant, but have always had major issues drawing the characters. It's silly self esteem issues, and so to help me kind of get out of pit I drew the characters in a very simple style. Nothing too difficult to cause a large amount of anxiety.

Now, luckily, my self esteem improved a lot thanks to a lot of support. Now, with a better mind set, I'll probably change a lot of character's outfits. They seem very plain currently, in my eyes, without enough character.

A couple of pages that I did for my portfolio for SDCC. These two pages are random pages of Vacant. I am pretty proud of them. I feel like in these two I really improved in blacks and whites and making the comic look very complete.

I'm in love with the way you so effectively vary the weight of your lines. Your black and white line works are some of the best I've ever seen! But your colored works are equally impressive.
    Kudos fellow Vasquez fan.

Thanks, Jane, that's a huge compliment. I've always been bothered about my horrible line weight before school and really worked to improve it.

    And I approve the kudos!

Another peice of fan art based off of one of Jhonen Vasquez's peices. Every once and a while I like to draw something based off of his creativity. It's nice to take a break and just do something a lot of fun.

Wow. Those 2 random pages from Vacant are really sharp. I mean, really, really sharp. The Black/Whites are great. Looking very pro. I like them.

Here is the before and after of Vacant page 1. I don't dislike the first page I did 6 months ago, but I wanted to redo it for the mood. It just didn't fit the feeling I wanted. Anyway, this one will be the last Vacant page for a while. Currently I am working on the Thesis, and don't have time.

Which makes me sad. I really wanted to get it rolling.

A project for Science Fiction Illustration class. The assignment was to draw a figure from the shoulder's up describing the first encounter with aliens. I am actually incredibly proud of this piece. I never thought I'd be able to paint something digitally like this. The last time I painted something digitally was about a year ago.

My cover to the Thesis project I am doing for Junior year. It's pretty much the only thing I have been working on. I wish I could work on personal illustrations or comics, but I can't.

Totally dries me up sometimes. Anyway, the next Sci fi illustration will be titled "Hamlet's Play". I have to design a book cover interpreting Hamlet through Robots. I am going to be trying very hard to make this illustration the best illustration of the class.

Love it. When you are making cartoon characters though, silhouettes could be more varied. Also, and this might just be because I draw heads wrong, your heads seems strange to me in your more comicbooky work. Sort of like they are not quite deep enough from brow to the back of the skull. The necks though, because they seem to be close to accurate in relation to the back of the skull, look a little weird sprouting out under the jaw(because if the neck is the right size, but the head isn't deep enough and the neck is sprouting in the right place from the back of the head... it means the neck will look like its too far forward). If our necks came out of our jaws it would be very uncomfortable looking as soon as our mouths opened. AGAIN, this could just be me not knowing how to draw these things correctly... because I seem to see this problem alot.
There is something in the way that you draw your more stylized stuff that really resonates with my hands. (they do most of the drawing, I'm just an observer) Makes them itchy, excited, inspired.
