Question Cintiq21 ux - not crisp?

Hmmm just got my cintiq21ux today.

it's sitting right beside a Dell 2407wfp. I know i may be spoiled by the sharpness and crispness of my dell but my wacom just seems a bit fuzzy.

I've color calibrated it using a spyder3pro and am running wincolor.(windows multi monitor color profile app which lets me have a specific color profile for each display)

it's connected to a dvi port but when i press the OSD it says vga.
The switch on the back is set to DVI, but when i press the options it still says VGA. is this normal?

was wondering because maybe if i manage to set it to DVI mode it might get crisper.... right now the image quality reminds me of the old CRT displays we all used to use.

was i expecting too much from the god-like tool called cintiq?

    Additional question....

I've tried almost everything but i just can't get the cintiq to recognize that it's in DVI mode. I've unplugged the cintiq, switched ports with the monitor, switched the vga/dvi switch back and forth, restarted multiple times.

It still registers as vga mode. (it's plugged into a dvi slot ofcourse)

anyone experience this? anyone find a fix to this problem? (I think that once it runs in dvi mode the fuzziness will cease.)

(am downloading a new nvidia driver, apparently i wasn't up to date... keeping my fingers crossed : nvidia 9800gt 1 gig)

edit :: no luck with the driver. the cintiq is still registering a VGA signal. GRRRRRRRRRR.

    EUREEEEKAAA!!

after half a day obsessing over the setup of my new cintiq.
a ton of google searches and computer restarts.

I got the cintiq to register a DVI signal!!!!

I used the adapter cable for DVI-D included in the box. ( i swear the first time i tried that adapter it didn't feel like it would fit in the vid card slot, good thing i gave it another try.)

yahoooooo! it seems to have fixed the fuzzines and CRT look. (VGA signal = CRT monitor look)

YAY! now to go draw and bitch about my lack of skills instead!

(so for those having the same problem try the adapter, that might be all you need.)

    Just to share...

    Can't get over it.
    I love my cintiq21ux!

I take back all i said.... it's so damn crisp in DVI mode. ( I just wish it could stand fully vertical so it won't catch the glare from my room light.)

    CINTIQ = FANTASTIC!!!!

Worth every penny.... all of you thinking of getting one, start saving!
(I bought this cintiq from the proceeds of my oil painting sales. heeeheee )

I'm dreaming of Cintiq 21" and hopefully I'll be able to buy one in the next couple of months. It makes me happy to hear that someone else has gotten one already, because I understand how much it probably means to them

Great that you managed to find the solution for the fuzziness, I was already starting to worry about it after reading your first messages...

    Dementiak,
Thank you for posting this! I was having the same exact problem with my cintiq on my new desktop machine. My nvidia graphics card was sending an analog signal to the cintiq, even though i used a dvi cable and had the tablet set to dvi mode. Adding the little adaptor did the trick!
    Thank you for posting this!
