    Coloration in PhotoShop...some questions.

Hi, I'm pretty new to these forums, and I'm really sorry if this question has been asked/answered thousands of times...but...

Well, I just got into realistic coloring in Photoshop using a tablet. I previously used cel-shading, and decided to go a different route. Anyway, I can't really seem to make my colors really look...realistic. Can someone give me some pointers on how some methods to do it are? My current technique requires me to make a block of color, then to add shading, go and darken the color to create a another block (same for lighting), etc etc. However this doesn't really blend the colors well and still looks really similar to cell-shading. Is there a way to use the tablet to create a more realistic coloration? Maybe a different brush in Photoshop? Please help me out with some insight, if you would be so kind.

Any help on this is appreciated
