you stuff look ok, and you sure work hard but

you really need to approach the value stuff a little lighter, in my opinion they are a little chaotic for a girl
try to make some line drawings only ... try to work on your perspective whit out putting value on your drawing, that's a very good exercise, i do that stuff all the time
another think watch your proportions, you have some problems here and there
i like the self portraits they are ok but again the value just scratches my eyes a little
try not to push whit the pencil that hard
as a exercise you can take a mechanic pencil, whit the 0,5 line and start putting shade and value in layers you don't need to draw nothing just make rondom shading on a piece of paper until you build that lighter touch

this is all from now good work and keep it coming

scuze ca am scris atatea dar ce rost are sa zic ca e totul bine si u sa ai probleme, nu din vorbe bune evoluezi

na papa sper sa ma adaugi si pe mine in lista sa mai vorbim

    Thumbs up

B-Man - I saw how big it was too after i uploaded! Hahah Now i hope it is all better. And yes, i did use some scattered brushes to do a bit of texture here n there. Thanks!

Danny_K - Thank you! That is my goal!

p sage - Nice seeing you again! And i really am going to do some more arm and hand studies from now on. It is time~
About the environment, thanks to Matt, i really feel that i have improved from this one. And i intend to start another envo very soon! But i'm not going to neglect past projects either.

Cacodaemonia - Thank you very much! Nice seeing you drop by again btw.

GweNdZ - yes, thank you dear *hugs*

m0uS3r - thank you! and hmm...from how you have put it, i am not sure what you mean by value. and i am chaotic cuzz i can't stand still almost never :p i need to rush it, rush it.. .. so i really don't know what to do, cuzz i like to make it all shiny and scratchy as you say
and if i want sweet words, i can run to my family and friends if i need those~

si cum am zis, eu folosesc doar msn, si chair ala foarte rar; tenisul imi mananca mult din programul zilnic, apoi desenatul, si sunt pur si simplu prea obosita pt chestii deastea
    nu o lua personal, dora ca i'm not a big chit-chatter ^^'

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today being my last day of playing tennis in the morning i overdid it again and spent 5h+ on court. At least i won big times
But because of that i am very, VERY tired and didn't do much today.

    Finished the environment though!!!
I really like how it turned out, and looking at the previous try..i just can't finds to express my happiness right now! Once again, thank you so, so much Matt !! < 3
It is not perfect yet, but it is a start! And i am most certainly going to do more of these, now that i know how to think and how big to do my strokes~

    Salut!

Nicely done Cristina, thank's to matt advices you did this way better than the previous one, and i know how challanging enviros can be ><'

Looking at you sketch i'd fix some lines beeing there, remmember even the best rendered and detailed painting won't look right if perspective or lets say anatomy will be off. Just keep that in mind young rising painting star

    Beautiful environment! Great job.
You are very busy with anatomy and stuff, that's good. I can see improvement and your dedication to drawing. The perspective tip on previous page is good, I was trying to explain the same thing here, but then saw that post.
If you understand everything can be placed in boxes, your drawings will improve even more than they already do .
    Keep em going!

Icecold - Aah thank you very much for the advice! And you have said it in such an simple way, and yet it is so meaningful! Also thank you very much for the compliment!

p sage - Will try my best!! And thank you. Expect more of these

Marlisa - Yes, thank you! I am trying to think more simple, and try not to draw every little detail!! And i am trying to get that perspective better too!! Though this has given me a headache for ages >_<

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok guys, so i have tried another environment, referenced, but this time without the trusty Matt posting some steps, and luckily it came out pretty well!!
Will be doing more of these, and i shall try to create a better mood next time~

Uhm i may be wrong but i have a feeling you kept everything on one layer out there. I assume, that enviors have to have many layers just to keep things clear and managable. Also use huge brushes when you start, to get the basic shapes quick and easy. As for mountains you can paint them by hand or use the lasso tool to create them. This piece also lacks the perspective, mountains look like they are just behind the tree. Let's say that things in front should be more sharp and more staurated, while the most far mountains should have a bit of sky coulour poring on them, if you know what i mean :>
I think that practicing things that i've mentioned above in Black&White will help you, you won't be distracted by the color.

How the hell did i know all this, geez i feel so smart.....NOT!

Icecold - I have no idea how i could have messed up the perspective here T.T but it is, and now that you have mentioned it yeah!! It totally feels like they are behind the tree!! >_< And you got it right with the layer part too! I like painting on one layer..

I think trying to paint in black and white will be the hardest thing ever for me!! I just can't stand them..i need shiny colours
I'll try to pay more attention to the highlight-shadow saturations i choose, and if it won't be better, then i'll try in black and white.
    Thanks man!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Worked a bit more on the collab after i finished that tree.

Better and better! Practice works. One thing about the latest enviro, is that you have to remember that even mountains and hills are shapes too. Hills are like half spheres, and mountains more like triangular prisms. They have to have highlights and shadows too, just like your still lifes. And for the collab: Where is your light source?!?!?!?

Well, those are some nice shiny colors I think your enviro is a good step forward for you (the one with the tree)... and the queen bee looks fun.

I came here for a fresh wips from you as I like to criticize
Now when I see photographic origins of the tower I see some improvements towards realism in second version. Still I prefer first version, because it has more soul and your style in it, second version seems to be more mechanical, not that natural/fresh.
As for painting in b&w... If you're painting from reference bluring/desaturating/posterizing photo may help you to see values and shapes to block. After you sketch you can put drawing on the single layer in multiply mode, then fill your background with some mid tone gray or low saturated colour, that should help you to differentiate lights and darks, and later you'll be able to decide if you want to hide your sketch or merge it into your painting.

Loving the collab so far, but I think she definatly needs more shadows and highlights . The tree is looking a little....Flat and unfinished to me, even for a speed paint. I think you need more colors (not details) and need to focus more on that then the little details in the tree .

Keep on truckin, I'm lovin it!

Hey there, I must say you've improved a lot since I last visited your SB, you were still at your first page. I see you're not slacking.
    How are the studies going?

I think trying to paint in black and white will be the hardest thing ever for me!! I just can't stand them..i need shiny colours
I'll try to pay more attention to the highlight-shadow saturations i choose, and if it won't be better, then i'll try in black and white.
Well I guess I'm the opposite, I'm bad with colors and prefere B/W but as long as you're having fun it's all right, just don't force yourself using a technique you dislike.

    keep it up

Hi Blackdelphin, great improvemet throough your sketchbook! I likr the fact tha you are studying Loomis: it's a great start for figure drawing. You might want to do some perspective studies as wel (boxes, ellipses etc.): they are an essential foundation to make more progress. Keep going!

I like shiny colours as well and I forget which layer I left things and spend ages trying to find them.

I think your pencil work is great and you should be able to get that same feel into your digital, but it's not that easy as I've found out. Take it slow and screw up a few times, who cares as long as you learn.

You play tennis as well! Gosh, if I was a bit fitter I'd give you a game. Last time I played I did my back in.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

Nice job so far on the collab, The background is beginning to look swell ^^

Nice sketchies oh and point of advice: next time you draw hands with no ref remember that fingers have two joints and not just one ^w^
I like it that you carry a sketchbook with you now, I always have an exam block with me so I get to doodle whenever I can too, sadly most of my doodles tend to end up in my work books ^^; lawl
