Painted the water a bit more and mare it blue

Hey Christina! Love to see your sketches ^^ If I could help, watch some vilppu videos on the figure, they really help with capturing a strong gesture with few lines to really grasp the action.

The ground in the two colour pieces on this page is not consistent with the other things in the images. These are common mistakes though and take an acute sensibility to perspective...
For the forest one, look at this image, see how it feels there are levels and a real sense of space to it? http://wide-wallpapers.net/wp-conten...st-600x375.jpg
Try to sketch it out to get a feel for it maybe... Not saying I'd do a better job but just thought I'd point it out~
The zebras (by the way I love the colours in that piece), for instance, and the trees and the path, are not on the same ground. You're drawing them all as symbols, disconnected from eachother. Again, I wouldn't be able to do any better xD
Look at images and really analyze how things feel grounded. Lots of concept artists make floor grids to aid in making a creature or design feel like it is really on a ground plane.
I've seen sketches that have the lines for the grid, but this is a decent example too, it really feels like it is in a real space:
I think the 2Dness of what we draw sticks with us for a long time, because 3D space is very abstract to construct in your mind. It takes lots of familiarizing and practice... it is one of my biggest fears xD
That being said, I really like the figure stuff you've been doing, especially in pen Saw them posted on fb. Keep it up! Great studies.
Try also studying your own eyes from life haha it is really fun. And photo studies from teh internets, that blew my mind at first when I did studies.

V3T- thank you! i try to have a look at them from time to time, always something new to learn from them
the-muddy- thank you for your critique, those are good points to look at; as for the ground, i tried to
make it in perspective, but at the same time make the illusion of hills and that the trees are further but i
guess looking at it again now, with fresh eyes, the shading of hills is different. thanks!
Danny_K- good to see your familiar face in here danny, thank you for the comment; i'm trying to polish
up on my rendering, but i still don't quite know how to do that.
Revidescent- i actually thought so too, so i watched some videos and looked for information on color theory
thank you for your comment! i didn't quite understand though what you meant with my colors feeling to solid. Are
the hard edges in the bad places or what did you mean?

I found this interesting lighting in a portrait, just had to try it out. So it turned out
something in between a color and a portrait study. I know, it's not quite polished. But
i wanted to get the overall mood, colors and proportions right. I need to practice my
portrait proportions more!

Peter Pan, smoked can, baked ham, over clocked ram, you can do it
up and down. Your all rounded-ness just got evolved and improved,
you have simply reinvented yourself. The deer in the forest is my latest
favorite and I got the feeling that you have really stepped up with your
mastery. Those little sketches of human figures that you do are something
very special and I think that they got a soul which go with them. Those
figures are very thankful to you, cause you gave them life and birth, they
are living in a happy nirvana. Colorful is your life, you never go sad or bad,
I like your understanding and recreation of eye studies. Superman is happily
swimming is his little private pool, in his backyard, with a Kriptonite custom
hand made necklace around his neck. This last portrait is a top notch and I
just go insane when I see such good color and skin practice. You have to
understand that you have the special extraordinaire quality that cannot
be replaced with anything else, so you do keep up with this love like
shine around spreading of mega rainbows.

That last eye study is great!! I am loving that mate, I think Blackspot is right you just need to keep doing more now,keep churning them out and you will get better and better with each one! good stuff!

the portrait study is great. the apple, I'd need to see the ref now! lots wring with the lose on the couple.. I could do a draw over if you want. oh, forgot to say, I joined the color theory thing. lots of info. dont really know how to apply it yet though.

Tried to paint an eye with my own skin tone ideas. I like the result.
But I tried to copy the right eye and thus make the left one.
There are so many flaws with that! Never again! >_<

aa, I meant there were structural issues.
here's a quick paintover. all I did is use box shapes, but I think you can tell where I needed to make changes to have my boxes add up.
the apple, ha. you did a good job. noticed you over-corrected for the mistakes from first time, ie the 1st apple was too thin, you made the 2nd too wide. the highlight in the first was too round, the one in the 2nd is a little too long.
lastly, I had to laugh. sorry. you made these beautiful eyes, and then you copied and pasted them with a distance between them about half of what it should have been. see? they look fine like this dont they?

With the apple you're quite right haha. I over corrected it. And for the eyes...well.. I'm bad with face shape and proportions. I've
drawn the skulls, I tried imagining how to add muscle to it, I've drawn the sockets and all of that, looked up proportions and I still
can't draw it right, and I don't even realize why.. I tried making this portrait from mind and she doesn't look like a lady, and I don't know what to do to it xD ( I just see that the eyes are to big, but i don't know how small is to small so i left them that way)

Hey, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! Your studies are coming out great, I love the last one!
I see you're having problems with stuff from imagination. For me it's the other way around. For drawing the figure from imagination I'd recommend thinking a lot about what you are going to draw. Who is the character? What is he doing? The problem with the lady portrait (the one you said didn't look like a lady) is that it seems to have no intention behind it. Why is this woman worth drawing? Who is she? Does the composition (light and angle as in a driver's licence picture) fit her personality and what you're trying to convey with the picture?
Last year in class we had a very interesting excercise where everyone had to paint a huge self portrait. It was interesting because I saw some really interesting compositions. One guy had painted himself in the down-left corner of the picture, half his face lit from the right, and a pure black background. That spoke volumes about him.
I did a quick paintover to show what I mean... I didn't change anything but the lighting and the expression, but I think it shows what I mean.
