Nice sketchbook; It's nice to see your progression. I will be joining you as a disciple of the masters studies. Keep it up!

Thanks ashess! Didn't do one in a while. Thought it's time.
Head and portrait studies for today.
My digital sketching isn't so good, got to do more.

starting on those value master studies too huh?
a great start too, though maybe a little too much hard brush. but that's more of a secondary concern.
step 1 should be getting your shapes right,
step 2 getting the values right- you're pretty close there.
step 3 getting the edgework right.
so, focusing on step one, maybe use a grid to double-check your work.
the first piece, the overall head seems to be in the right place, but the features seem to be distorted. the nose is too big, leaving too little space for the mouth and chin.
in the second, the whole head is too big, upsetting the overall composition.
well, I think you did a great job at gauging the values, but now you need to make some transitions ofc. control-paint has some great tutorials about that.
lol; I've been linking this all over the place, but it helped me a lot... and I think it could be great for you too.

ashess - awesome! i completly forgot about ctrl paint! though it is such an awesome site; and you are completely right, i should do more rendering studies; also, from the last time i painted (that being month ago) i forgot i used to vary edges more and paint with soft brushes too xD thanks ashess!
Here is today's master study. 1.5h
I'd work some more on it but no more time. Exam tomorrow.
I studied the composition and flow first, then blocked in the big shapes.
Then added the rest on top.
