aa, I meant there were structural issues.
here's a quick paintover. all I did is use box shapes, but I think you can tell where I needed to make changes to have my boxes add up.
the apple, ha. you did a good job. noticed you over-corrected for the mistakes from first time, ie the 1st apple was too thin, you made the 2nd too wide. the highlight in the first was too round, the one in the 2nd is a little too long.
lastly, I had to laugh. sorry. you made these beautiful eyes, and then you copied and pasted them with a distance between them about half of what it should have been. see? they look fine like this dont they?

Thanks for commenting on my sb
The progress on that apple is great. And the studies are looking good too. Nice work!

ashess - thank you for the paintover! the construction stuff looks good; makes me think how to approach poses
like these better. but the angle of the pose was this: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Male-F...CK-1-113483160 (right corner up)
And I want to have that angle. But I understand what you mean with more construction.
With the apple you're quite right haha. I over corrected it. And for the eyes...well.. I'm bad with face shape and proportions. I've
drawn the skulls, I tried imagining how to add muscle to it, I've drawn the sockets and all of that, looked up proportions and I still
can't draw it right, and I don't even realize why.. I tried making this portrait from mind and she doesn't look like a lady, and I don't know what to do to it xD ( I just see that the eyes are to big, but i don't know how small is to small so i left them that way)
Ethnax - Thank you for dropping by!
Tried to do a still life study.

Hey, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook! Your studies are coming out great, I love the last one!
I see you're having problems with stuff from imagination. For me it's the other way around. For drawing the figure from imagination I'd recommend thinking a lot about what you are going to draw. Who is the character? What is he doing? The problem with the lady portrait (the one you said didn't look like a lady) is that it seems to have no intention behind it. Why is this woman worth drawing? Who is she? Does the composition (light and angle as in a driver's licence picture) fit her personality and what you're trying to convey with the picture?
Last year in class we had a very interesting excercise where everyone had to paint a huge self portrait. It was interesting because I saw some really interesting compositions. One guy had painted himself in the down-left corner of the picture, half his face lit from the right, and a pure black background. That spoke volumes about him.
I did a quick paintover to show what I mean... I didn't change anything but the lighting and the expression, but I think it shows what I mean.
Shoulder to the wheel, my friend!
My sketchbook - Harsh critique always welcome!

AlexTooth - Thank you! There will be a lot more!
Dina2342 - Thank you, you are right! There was no intention what so ever behind my portrait.
And usually my portraits don't have an intention...and my mind goes blank a lot of times when I try
to create a character. Will try harder to think of stories and see what happens to the way the portrait
will look. Thanks again!
More figure studies!
Poor portraits, I know, will have to try harder!

Wow! I really love your sketch book. The studies are awesome! I hope my sketch book looks like this one day. I especially like your gesture drawings on the last page.

Erm.. I came here to give CnC since you so kindly posted in my sketchbook, but uh.. I don't think I'm even nearly close enough to your level to say anything here without sounding like a prick.. So.. I'll be back in.. A year, I guess? D:
I realize my profile picture sucks. I will put on a better one when I make/get given a better one. I don't want to use a Google profile pic.

Ha . You said I'm doing hard work, this sketchbook is crazy. Got to give it a better look but for now when you put your figures in perspective make sure that the torso box and the pelvis box align properly. For example in that lying pose the torso and pelvis should be on the same line that goes to the left.
Good luck! See you next year.
