So "Ahmadinejad is not our chosen president"

    TRUTH RESULTS:
    MOUSAVI = 19.075.633

Tehran burn in fire and smoke just like nuclear fallout, over 70 wounded and 11 death!

they attack to streets and break everything, from cars to shops, banks and windows...they shot old woman's, young kids and teen girls...JUST LIKE WILD ANIMALS!

Last night they trying to break our house and get inside, but we shutdown lights and kick their ass by cocktail-Molotov and bat!

Islamic Republic Forces = nightstick, tear gas, massive hand-made grenades, shotgun, pepper spray, gun and knife!
Peoples = bat, stone, knife, paintball gun and cocktail-Molotov!

Here latest photos...(they break cameras and mobile phones, so we can't get high-quality images)

I never seen something like this!

Paintball? Seriously!!?? I mean, dude (I'm assuming you're a dude, sorry if I'm wrong) I used to have paintball fights all the time, and those police I'm seeing in the photo's are wearing way more protection than I ever did in those.

I'm not a fan of violence, but if you are going to protect yourself (and it seems like in your situation its neccesary) I suggest you get more than that. I don't know how easy guns are to get out there; maybe you guys can take them off the police that get hurt or something, but as far as I can tell your stones will be more effective than a paintball gun.

I'm not sure if I'm the greatest guy in the world to be giving advice on this, as theres no way I have ever faced anything close (also, its possible that haveing guns might make you a target, in which case please think of your safety 1st) Whatever the case, I'll be praying for you and your people. Its not much I know, but its all I can really give. I hope things work out, preferably for the better, and I especially hope that you stay safe.

by the way, I see that Mousavi was trained as an architect, and his wife is an artist. As an artist I really respect that.

Oh No, We fill paintball gun with smash of stone and glass, really painful at close range!

    Imagine we have 4 enemies!!!
    1. SEPAH (Islamic Republic Military) - with protection, guard and mask (no gun, at least now!)
    2. POLICE (ordinary police) - with police suite (they have pistol, but never use it)
    3. BASEEJ (Islamic Extremist) - Dress like ordinary peoples, But train like terrorists (they have pistol, hand-made grenade, dynamite and knife)
    4. UNKNOWN! (non-Iranian soldiers) - with protection, guard and mask, they are Terrorists came from Lebanon and Palestine (they have gun, from Pistol to UZI and J3)

SEPAH Rarely fighting in front-line and usually don't do anything violence, POLICE Looking and Controlling forces, BASEEJ walk between peoples with ordinary dress and make chaos! (like burning banks), UNKNOWN forces do anything they want, much like Animals!!

We are not fan of violence, But seems like there is no peaceful way!!
Mousavi is just another political leader, We actually war for freedom, to deny Islamic republic and to deny Terrorists!

BigBow: I know it's kind of a hot item at the moment and a lot of people are supporting the cause, but CA is not a political forum as such. Joining up just to post those pictures and to make your point could be considered as spam, in fact. However, since the thread seems to be kept civil for the moment I guess there's no harm in it.

Just a warning for anyone posting in here, as soon as things seem to get out of hand in here I'm very much inclined to simply close this thread. There are better forums out there for those who want to discuss politics.

There are quite a few sites that show how to make them. I know the tech is a bit old fassioned, but I think it might be better than paintball guns.

I'm assuming that you're posting these pictures to let people know what is happening in your country, rather than to argue politics. I know that this is happening all over the internet, and, although I'm not very computer-savvy, I know you have to post using proxies (there was a television programme on over here a few weeks ago talking about your election and the Green Party, and how proxies were used to post to the internet)

I don't know what can or will be done to help the people of your country, but by the mere act of keeping other people informed of what is happening, you, and the other people who do this, do yourselves, your country, and all of the people who see this a great service. Knowledge is power.

BigBow: That's okay, no real need to post your art in here just to make it more legal. Nor am I saying artists hate politics (rather the opposite I think), it's just that threads like these have a tendency to derail real quick Lounge-style and this one seemed to have a lot of potential for it. So, for now, carry on

Well, hopefully, a more stable Iran. Mousavi helped keep Iran economically afloat while he was the PM after the revolution in 79. Ahmadinejad was a conservative reaction to the last president, Khatami, and Khamenei wants to keep it that way. So, Mousavi would be more amenable to the 'western world' if not blood brothers with us.

Plus, I think having people get the president they actually voted for is a plus, yes?

Well, if we're lucky the Mousavi and the Iranian people who voted for him, especially the younger generations, will see us cheering them on and push to end all the "great satan/death to the west" dialogue. From the interaction that I've had with Iranians (not a whole lot, but enough to glean a bit about the culture and political situation there) I've learned that the younger generations are already fairly pro-western. Also, most of those videos that we see of them trampling American flags and burning western leaders in effigy are of people being paid by the Iranian govt.

Considering all that, if Ahmadinijad is able to quell the riots this time around he's only delaying the inevitable.

My family is going to take their yearly trip to Iran which I worry but they've been ok in past trips. My mom asked have you seen the riots, and I joked with her, they just saw the Lakers win, and are acting like they're in LA.

My mother was a waitress at the time in Iran when she met my father, married and had me. We then moved to the US. Other family members followed later after the change and Iran/Iraq war.

-- I need to correct the above. It was a sarcastic remark (another family member ) made about how my mom met my dad. They were at the military area when my father was stationed in Iran. She acted like a "Waitress" because he couldn't understand the menu. I misunderstood XD

We always mentioned since the war over half of the population is youth and rather Westernized in many ways it will be nice to see them rise up and change.

Here's a live twitter feed in real time with reports from people in iran. Here are some more badass photos.

There's also some really awful video footage online, which I'm not sure would be appropriate to post. I remember first hearing about baton wielding motorcyclist riot police and I thought, "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my baton!" would make a great meme. When I saw the video of a motorcyclist driving a huge swarm of people off the road and slamming his baton into a guy's head, I just thought it was just ugly and sad.

    Bigbow,

The images and the video coverage you and others have shared along with the footage I've seen off of the TV and internet news are intensely frightening. This is the first time in my life I've lived to see such civil unrest and, quite frankly, I'm scared for your lives. I will pray for all of your safety. God protect you all.

Please, be safe Bigbow. You and everyone else.

Civil discussion and politics is important and often art related. Given that the Iranian Govmt. is shutting down their ability to communicate with the world, and social networks are the primary form of information sharing for the Iranian people, we will not be closing this thread.

Please continue to post images and updates.

It is of note that I am so happy that George Bush and his cronies are gone. Obama is doing the right thing in only saying that it is up to the people of Iran to decide their fate.

Good will come from this. It has gone too far for change to not happen for the better.

Best of luck to the people of Iran and our members from that country who have a whole new future happening and beginning now.

The pictures in this thread are amazing...I am happy to see people fighting for truth and sad to see the death and destruction. The images here gave me the tingles all the way down into my toes. Thank you for posting them.

Fair enough, I just wanted to warn everyone to keep it civil Given the reputation of the lounge I could see this thread kill itself rather fast, which would be a pity.

Good to see people standing up for their own rights and beliefs indeed, though. Best of luck for the people of Iran.
