We are making a serious push to help get the winner promoted globally. I have added the cover of ImagineFX to the grand prize, and year subscriptions to the magazine to all categories.

This is a big one folks!!! Let's rock!

    Jason

PS, thanks to Claire at ImagineFX for their participation and understanding. This is great stuff.

Yeah, I was asking about the height too. Is the height 1000px also or is it up to us?

I have no chance of winning, but I'm still going to work something up, and maybe end up with a new portfolio piece for myself or something. Very impressive prizes, and I can't wait to see people's submissions.

Wow, even another prize? You spoil us Jason.

I'm really hoping to get my thread up tonight, but I can't seem to get any kind of decent perspective on my thumbnails. I really want that IFX cover.

hey quick question. Do we gotta create a thread just to participate in the competition? and same question about the height of the image. Is the height up to us to decide?

    Mr. Jason Manley/CA.org

Concerning the newborn contest's strict rules on producing your own original work and not using the likeness of other people, does that extend to objects/tools such as Painter/Wacom tablet?

I wish to include the likeness of these products into my Newborn entry, but i would like to know if such a thing is allowed.

I would assume so as both Wacom and Painter are Promoting/Contributing to the contest.

The rules (#3) state that any media can be used, but I would take into consideration that the companies involved would be using the images for promotional purposes, so a free-standing sculpted piece may not translate well into a 2D image. I definitely could see a flat-on sculpted piece similar to a frieze or bas-relief, or even a shallow "box" piece as being quite acceptable for what they have in mind.

Keep in mind I'm not Jason (I'm cuter...) so he may have another opinion.

I'm not Jason, but I don't think this would be a problem anymore than including a Pepsi can giving birth. It's called COUGHblatentCOUGH "product placement."

Likeness of other people? What did I miss? I'm using my grandmother in my picture, photos for ref taken by myself. So there's a likeness of grandma in my picture.

You mean likeness of refs that you have not made yourself, right?

So is this refering to celebrities? I was going to include some popular faces as a sort of cameo in my piece (not copied from a photo). It was gonna show some musical artists watching and wondering as a new decade is born. Is this idea in violation of the rules? (their faces would appear in the reflection of the container that the baby is in.) This is a thumbnail:

QFT. I finished my first picture, and then start picking the shit out of it the second I was done. From now on, all WIPs need to be on here, so I don't feel like a noob after I'm finished. -_-

I'm terrible at judging how good/crappy my work is.

Drawing a picture of a Wacom giving birth to the word "AWESOME" will not win you this contest.
