    Exphrasis' Art

    Hey guys ! .

One of my first posts here .
I'm an 18 year old student from France , living abroad since I'm 7 .
I have been drawing with traditional mediums for about 5 years now , and started digital painting a bit less than 1 year ago.
Here's some of my paintings :

You are good and have lots of talent and potential. With the new one, the background really doesn't look finished. Perhaps you did this to achieve a depth of field effect, but it really just looks lazy. It doesn't have to look as finished as the foreground, but it should look more finished than it does. Good luck with your art! You could go far.

    Thanks a lot : ).
    Will do .

This one is something rather different than what i usually do . It's a mix between 3D and painting. It was a first try for me . I'm rather happy with it , helped me practice, and it turned out almost exactly as i wanted.
About 8-10 hours in total . Blender for the 3D , and photoshop for the painting postwork .

    Nice work all around.

In the last piece it bothers me the fact that the sea looks flat except for the two waves that frame the image and the small one that rises to the burning mast. During a storm the sea looks restless everywhere with waves of all sizes.

Secondly, the fire should be brighter than the hole in the clouds so it will pull your eye to it. And it should reflect on the sea too.

One can see that you invest a lot of time on your pics and that's always commendable but try doing some really quick ones with just the main shapes without concerning yourself with details. After a while you'll be able to build the main forms and the details will be implied rather than be shown.

    Keep it up

    Thanks a lot !

I've had some different feedbacks saying the same things about the reflection and the 2 waves.I'll sure keep that in mind for the next paintings.
Also , this aspect of brightness in the sky distracts , you are completly right . =).

Well actually , the last ones were made in about 2 hours ... =) .
Specially this one and the one with the blue crystals.

    Hey !
    Here's my latest painting .

The story this painting tells is about 2 soldiers on patrol on a planet torn appart by war , opposing these guys you see on the pic to us humans in the future . After the destruction of a human base , this patrol will find this baby. The one on the right didn't want to keep it , but the one on the left didn't leave him the choice and saved the baby from what a certain death.
He will then help the kid to grow up , and use him as a mean to stop the war, by showing the others that coexistece is possible.
Then well ....you can imagine the rest the way you want

Keep it up. You definitely have talent. Just keep practicing and posting.

However, the first image reminds me an awful lot of Vin Diesel from Chronicles of Riddick (the pose and the knives), and the second image is definitely reminiscent of General Grievous. Did you use those are reference?

Hey man.. Some good stuff in here but i would definitely suggest working on your forms first..
A lot of the works feel.. "disjointed" almost.. Like way more attention was payed to detail in small parts rather than an all encompassing focus..
The picture in post 14 for example.. The breast piece doesnt seem to fit with suit.. It looks out of place almost.
Like has been said already tho you definitely have talent so keep at it!

I see what you mean , I'll try working on that .

Does this one seem better .. ?

Also please tell me if you believe the file is too big and I'll resize it.

Thought It would be interesting to submit at least one with almost 100 % of its size.

It looks like you're on your way. Keep moving forward.

No offense intended, but I think your thread may be better suited to the SB forum. More viewers there, too. You can probably get one of the admins. to bump it over if you like the idea.

Thank you , it means a lot.

However I don't consider those sketches I'm sorry...The idea is interesting though , but those artworks are the most 'finished ' of my stuff at the moment. I know they may not look as detailed and well done as the other artworks on the other threads here , but still I believe they are finished for me. I would rather create a sketchbook that includes only ideas, pencil sketchs and rough compositions ,this kind of stuff . Hope you understand my point of view on it
