The bow / knife fight, Poison Ivy, and this thing from page 1 are my favorite in here (the last one looks like an earlier version of something you did a couple pages later, but I like the first version better I'm a bastard.). Haha @ the Arrested Development comment from passersby on your Juno painting.

I like the epic feel in your work, and the fact that you put in the effort to flesh pieces out.

I tried posting a comment a couple days ago during The Great Bugginess, and now I don't remember what I said. I think I said I liked the Poison Ivy above, and that I liked this piece a little better than the later versions of it. But epic stuff, very cool.

Hi guys... sorry I haven't been back. I was checking on CA from time to time and it was down most of my attempts to get in to the site... thanks for all the awesome comments and input!!

Thanks Kambei Shimada .... I'll probably be drawing him again in the future. I think I have more of him that I have yet to scan.

    Thanks Azsha!

Thanks Chevy! That's what I've been aiming for a long time... more finished looking stuff, but still keeping the looseness. I'm still struggling with it.

Livoshka, thanks very much! I appreciate it. That was really nice

Thanks Diamandis! Yeah, I kinda like aspects of the earlier version too.. I think I need to work more on the readability of my illustrations before I attempt something that weird and textural again. Hopefully I'll be able to pull qualities of it in a future piece.

Thanks Yemi! yeah... I try to preserve as much mark-making from the traditional as I can when I go to digital -- still something I'm experimenting with.

    Thanks Cricketts!

Diamandis -- yeah, every time I'm come back to try and post something new in the thread I wasn't able to get into the site. I just kind of gave up for a while -- I'm glad CA seems to be back up and running again.
Thanks very much... yeah... the Ivey piece was a pretty big jump for me in some stuff I was trying to achieve with my figures. Thanks again!

Here's another piece with the initial drawing that went with it.

I was experimenting with doing some illustrations that have multiple panels... kind of one panel setting the scene and then the second panel with the characters. I have more on the go --- hopefully going to post them soon

Wow!... that's really annoying. I remember updating this thread a whole bunch. I guess my updates got deleted?
Oh well... here they are again with almost no explanations as to what anything is. I'm not typing it all out in case it gets deleted again.

These are literally sketches from last summer... mostly.... mega-procrastination to get them scanned. I actually managed to get a whole two weeks off from work so I did a lot of random sketch-booking out in the park, etc... drawing randoms, some from photos... some not...

I don't think I ever showed the sketch for my "The Storm" piece... did I? I can't remember...
This sketch was done a couple years ago... and I work on the painting for it every now and then when I have some extra time between work/deadlines

Wow, you've got a serious knack for composition, I really love your style. Your IMC piece and the Dresden one are especially great, really dynamic.

Also, apparently I came out of Sheridan illustration the year after you. I know this because I have like 3 years worth of grad show postcards wallpapering my room, and your Juno piece is among them. D: Small world?

More progress one knife point... I'll probably have to make the legs less-busy again... but whatever... I'll keep painting

Thankyou P Sage! I was more careful of my palette on that one... I think I'll still have to desaturate the background a bit so it sits back more. Not sure if the blue has too much chroma... I'll experiment

Marlo, thankyou That's very nice of you to say!

Here is some coloring of a sketch I had. A long time ago I made a list of 10 things I found difficult to draw and/or had no idea to draw. It was a list of fairly complex compositions mixed with some simple things I could never seem to get right. This is one of the simpler things, I guess?

Actually... I'm not done for tonight. I wanted to spend more time on some of the background figures as well as drop atmosphere in to send the BG back. I suppose the future plans are to darken the foreground legs quite a bit... darkest legs in the front to brightest and foggiest background -- figure that makes the most sense.

I guess I'll post my thumbs at some point so people can see what I was thinking. Here is actually where I got with it tonight...

I think the pants in this one http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...3&d=1374985342 was good, that one seems to work better than your new updates,
I think there may need to be more contrast between the foreground figure and the two background figures to create more depth, I'm not sure if it needs to be contrast of colors or contrast or edges, or contrast of light to dark, but the picture seems to have too much flatness spread out.

Thankyou Sgt Bubbles! Thanks for the comment

Mr-Joe... thankyou! Yeah, I agree... I went and I took a better look at some of the values and painted out some of the busy areas so the faces stand out little bitter. I also broke up the painting into sections and went at it with the curves a bit to get rid of some flatness... hopefully it's reading better now.

I also did one where I overlaid my original pencil drawing back over top and set it to multiply.... I don't know what to think? I kind of like my mark-making in my traditional stuff more than my digital strokes... but not sure... what do you guys think?
