way your are shading, and they way your
are handling the compostion on your pages,
they are looking better with each update,
Im really likeing how your style is
    developing cheers!!

    critic:
The thumb finger on the hand on the 2 page
looks a bit wonky and the hand looks a tiny bit flat,
it still has a lot of caracter, so its just a minor thing,
but I thought of mencion it non the less.

Ill be waiting for the next update dude
    see ya.

Wow! I just posted my own sketchbook and was looking at other peoples work... and yours is amazing!

One can really see how you've improved so, so much due to a lot of evident hard work. It amazes me how much work you've put into understanding anatomy by means of a lot of practice.

    Your work is inspiring.

Exocentric, Wes Mordine, Thanx guys! It means alot. Wes, I'll leave some crits in your thread.

maxetormer: hehe thanx for all the comments, dude! It's encouraging

Undertow: hey, thanx for crossing by.
Your facial proportions need some work but you've got renderring down.. too bad you don't live out this way, I'd kill for some help with my renders.
does this show in my latest update as well? (I know the guys head is fooked).

Tonights update...just studies, as usual. Started without ref, fixed propostions and anatomy in mirror afterwards...still has problems, though, and the head sort of breaks the energy. Anyway, i'm really just hoping for a good crit before I render it to death.

I need to learn the basics on legs. I'm terrible at drawing the full figure w/o ref...the pelvis is a pain...need to get a simplifyed way of drawing it.

I might add more in the morning...unless I fall asleep

a pencil scetch that went through some heavy photoshopping....using abstraction and 'style' as an excuse for the bad proportions.

Talk about steady progression. On your last piece, I think it seems.. lop-sided, you know, heavy on the right side of his face. But nonetheless, you are really getting there, faster than I am if I may say so myself.

but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

    Starting over.

Thanx, klinesmoker. I did a quick peak through your thread. My advise to you would be to put the shading aside for a while and study volume by other means. It helps putting down the proportions more efficently as well.
Dang, I should follow this advise myself..

This might be my last post for a while. I have RSI (repeated strain injury) in both hands now. Gotta take a BIIIG break from sitting in front of the computer..

I started to doubt where I want to go with my art today. I realized that all I ever do, is either studies or spontanous doodles that I shade to death. Oh well...I think I should just move on anyway. Everytime I try to get creative, my limitations pops up and shits in my face.

anyway, here is a lil' piece to start the night..

I'm sorry this isn't a crit, just a pat on the back, you got good fast!

There is a feeling of relief or satisfaction when you look at a drawing that is 'correct' and almost all of your stuff gives me that feeling.. plus it makes me need to draw!

ok one crit, your mouths seem to end up too low. maybe try drawing a face with only a very light construction line to start with for the mouth and add it when all the other features are in place?

keep up the good work, you clearly enjoy drawing and your enjoyment is infectious..

    cheers

    Niall

This night has been an overly unproductive one. I'm too easily distracted. Posting this shit so I can move on. And on and on and on and on and.....

Hey those SP studies in the mirror look great

Reminds me of when in the summer I would lock myself in the bathroom, sit on the toilet and draw, or sit on the counter or lean against the wall.

hehe yeah it can be physically demanding, its a good workout to draw while an arm is up or your body is in a difficult position and it IS so hard to draw the drawing hand lol.

Keep the studies, lots of progression

What the hell happened to you, dude?

Insane progressions. Remember to keep it loose. Looks like you're grasping that pretty well. As for your faces, I would rather see you studying the skull rather than the shapes, but those are good too. Love your bone studies. Pay attention specifically to the way things connect to one another on the body. Flow around the body. As for that drawing of you in the mirror before you render it to death... the head... it seems out of proportion. It also kills the flow of the drawing because the head and neck are stiff. Pay attention to the spinal cord and keep it loose. Try taking deep breaths in the mirror and blowing them out, get that sleepy like form in your upper body's bones and flesh. It will help you pay attention to the flow of the body. Push your neck around limp in that mirror.

Awesome. Really inspiring. This is going in my subscriptions.

    hey man!

Looking great with your studies there pal, I wish I would progress as u.
Anyway, you say that when you try som more imaginary concepts it dousen't go so well, eh? I noticed your from Norway, so I just had to give u the tip of drawing som norwaygian folklorish stuff, that would be awsome! U know "huldran", "näcken", etc...maby a deep nordic forest with a troll that hides under a tree. Som'in like that. At least I love it.

    Keep it up!

Yo! I like your latest torso studies! If you're having problems with the creative stuff it's maybe because you only do anatomystudies.... I know if I focus extremely much on anatomy a period, that is all that seems to come outta my head. Just let your pencil do whatever it feels like, and see what comes out of it sometime!

    Keep 'em coming!

Alright...this has been a struggle...trying to discover methods in anatomy and construction, proportions and landmarks, poses etc...it's more time consuming that I had planned hehe.

I will reply to your posts later...thanx guys

    Edit:
two more...my arm hurts now. Gotta take a break. Really want to draw more, but im tired as hell..

dude!! your doing so good! make more fullbody studies
    like this one:

    doodles98

they will help ya a lot in terms of overall proporcions, they are
harder than the separated anatomy studies, but you ill get
twise as much information, keep strong in the figth, and
    thanks for the inspiration!!!

    P. S. i really loved this neck-head studies:

endregan yeah, those were exhausting. Drawing your drawing hand is a nice concentration exersice hehe..
patternagainst thanks man. I'll keep what you said in mind. Why don't you start a SB too? Would be cool to see your stuff.
    Ink Monkey thanks
Tigermilk Just draw everyday. Don't be afraid to fail, and don't restrain from repeting you you don't get things right.
Some folklore could be cool. Are you familiar with the works of Theodor Kittelsen?
dCept Hallo! Lately, I have just wanted to absorb as much as possible, so I have more in the library when I want to get creative. Thanks for coming back dude

Another long night. Trying to do the stuff i'm bad at. It feel as if it goes too slow. I'm having trouble concentrating and I usually end up spending an hour or more on each page. I think I'm learning though. Just have to be patient...

Maxetormer hey, thanks for stopping by again. I really hate the one fullbody drawing. Had to do something about it. Thanks for the support man. I'm glad I'm able to inspire someone. Will do more of those head studies. Slap me If I don't.

Had to do this over again. Not completely right, but better. I think his arms are too big.

    head construction...i'm terrible at this...

not too good at this either...sorry for the sloppyness...

Great update, as always, man. I think your head studies are commin along really well.
Yes, I know theodor kittelsen, his work is a big inspiration, really charming.
Other artists of the nordic folklore are too John Bauer, his paintings are very beautiful.
Anyway, just a tip, I think u shuold go for it some time.
