Hey guys. I"m a student at cal arts majoring in character animation.
I've decided that I reallly like designing characters so I want to spend my summer trying to build that skill.
My storyboarding teacher told me that I needed to expand on these:
Need to do more sketches of each character. I wanna study pirates and cowboys and blah blah blah. Very particular characters that I think would be good for me to study. So that's one of the things I"m doing.
Along with doing that, I've decided to design one character a day. Here's the last few days.
So let's see how long I last. lol.
Looking for some critiques.

Nice character designs, that is also one of my favourite things to do.
I've noticed that most characters seem to be "contaminated" with the background colour. It's good because they integrate fairly well with the background, but, as the important thing here is the character, you might want to make the characters more saturated, to make them contrast against the background and therefore pop out. You could try to design some of them with an actual white background, just to see what happens. And as little thing, you should work more in the characters shadow, at their feet. Sometimes it looks like they are floating. Keep in mind that, the closer to the feet they are, the darker they become.
Anyway, nice work in here! keep it up, I'd like to see more of those characters!
Pencil studies are great, your tutor better be happy with those, haha.
Great work, keep it up. Love your designs
a storyboard that I did.
