Dile_, I like the painted look of your rendering. Digital art sometimes has too many hard angles. Yours looks more natural, I can see individual strokes.

I also like the attention to historical detail.

The figure is a bit too static, but overall it doesn't detract from the piece.

Good job to you, and everyone else.

Okay... i'll try and make this not sound like bitching that i'm not winning, i enter for the worldwide critter of the week... this is also so am glad i'm getting votes to start with, I don't necessarily believe i should have won.

    Right onto the point:
Ive noticed this happening twice now: one minorly in the 'Guardians of Asqard' activity and now here.

People are voting entirely on appearance and not considering concept at all... isn't that sorta the point? PokePetter is an amazing teen artist and won the asgardian votes... but there was no evident relation to the subject.
Now here Dile, also a very talented artist... i love your brushwork its so good and free and the overall result is well presented... BUT its still just a generic historical gladiator... no other concept added... not from a specific area and no defining features... i'm not angry at you for not being a fantasy-user here... but the piece is simply not what i'd consider a good concept!

    Other Mentionable:
Jatherip, yours is well done (very) but a bit generic... only the weapons are very unique in appearance (don't be scared of faces... am aware of the hypocrisy)

Cecil, VERY well presented... love that CG painted look

"Can't you hear it? The sound of beating drums, constant, never fading and yet always getting louder... as if getting closer and closer"
