    Main In Game Character

    Hey all,

I just wanted to post something I'm working on, its a final piece of concept work for the main character on my game design course. This is the first time I've gone in and painted a character from scratch! The face really had me stumped for a while, still need work.

I just wanted opinions, comments and advice from anyone on how to proceed!

    Thanks for your time guys!

Looks OK--it's very descriptive. If I were modeling and texturing this character, this drawing would be more than sufficient for me to work from. (That rigid-looking chastity belt she's got on looks pretty uncomfortable, but maybe that's just part of the game story.)

I have no real critique to offer, except that your lighting and anatomy are a little bit off all around. If it were me, I'd probably set up and render a generic low-poly female character with the desired lighting and just paint over that.

I really like her outfit, looks awesome. I would try to find a reference of a similar look for the face. Also the boots seem to be a bit too wide, like they would hit each other when she walks. when I walk there is about 1-2 inches space between my ankles without shoes.

Thanks Giacomo and Amber for your comments!

Giacomo: Yeah I know what you mean in regards to the anatomy and lighting, I have been wrestling with it for quite some time, I didn't think of the female model idea, thanks!

Amber: Thanks for the comment on the boots, I didn't spot that!

Nice design. You've done well with the light from the, uh....Cintiq?

One thing I can see that's off is her chest armor. They seem to flatten out the breasts rather uncomfortably by their boxy shape, which also kind of disrupts the flowy shape of the suit overall. If the character has small breasts, the top shouldn't be that round.

    Thanks for the comment Tangleworm.

A Cintiq! I wish Would love me one of those but no the touchscreen laptop she is using just looks a little like a Cintiq.

I see what you mean about the chest armor, it is a little bulky, I'll try and refine the shape a little more.
