im jumping all over the place. i was thinking about a short story or something about french soldiers in WW1. the main character knows how to survive, but sees all of his friends die in the process. "No Hero" or something

Nice soldier studies, really nice, you have a nack for that hard edged look it's beautiful. Did you use some watercolor with the last drawing that you used 4 different pens for?

callouses on the fingers. If you don’t have any, you’re not drawing enough.

That Artillery pic is awesome. I like the Vietnamese soldier too. Looks thin and realistic.

ya i like the vietnamese guy too, alot of their faces their mouths are small and their eyes and cheekbones are big, their skulls are almost diamond shaped lol. most of them were on a poor diet tho. theres also the vietcong, which is like the man in the black pajamas. whom i believe also wore sandals made out of truck tire rubber, ill probably draw one of those fellas later

Hey Jesus Food, looking great my friend. Your military sketches are so damn authentic in mood. Good job. Good variety of other topics too.

Wow, there are some great drawings in here! I love the narrative (sp?) quality to your work - like there's a story taking place. At first I assumed it would just be a book full of sameface soldiers, but all your characters are individuals with different expressions and cool little details in their authentic-looking gear. Good stuff, man - I'd love to see some sequential or panel stuff from you!

I especially enjoy the (sepia?) and black and white stuff. Your paintings have a lot of great movement to them, the only thing I would say (which you actually did in the most recent post) is get some more opacity in those suckers. Otherwise there's all these great little details hidden away in there... can't wait to see em finished.

Goddamn, your war depictions are right up my alley! Not only do I enjoy the variety of mediums you're using and all of your experimentation, but each and every piece has this gritty feel that strips away the "fantasy" of war and gives it in its honesty plain and simple. I appreciate that aspect a lot. I also like how each one can be a scene in a movie or a book with these guys on the front lines. The one with the guy being shot and reeling backwards right in the beginning is stunning. It reads well and is powerful for a sketch.

Thanks for dropping by my SB, BTW. Yeah, those studies are handy. I think once you got some rolling, your work will jump up again in quality. These are already rather jaw-dropping. Can't wait to see what they'll look like with further practice.

thx guys! i havent had much time to draw lately. Most of the war stuff i dont use reference, hence alot of it being very sketchy and rough. i have been kinda into war for a while so i know the gear for most of these guys i drew

Konstruktion: yeah, i like that one too, its kind of flowing

demeter luna: when i need reference i just google stuff mostly, sometimes i find good sites for very specific things, but i wish there was some kind of reference database for that type of thing, if someone knows fill me in

wanimal: what did i do to the chinese, theyre the last people id want to piss off

shroudstar:thanks, im going to be posting more studies... maybe a little break on the war stuff...
chang: thanks man, i googled him. quite a compliment

this took an hour, i guess its not really nos pharatu, because that guy didnt even look human. maybe hes just a vampire
