    p40 warhawk

this is a WWII piece ive been working on. the plane is a P40 from the 23rd flight division. my biggest problem right now seems to be composition. i just dont know what else to add to it (if anything) to make it better. i had this idea of a chaotic background when i started but, i dont know if anything else would really work. thoughts or ideas?

something with the perspective looks off, making the plane look flattened.

Good job. But just an observation. When they go into combat they always first drop the extra fule tank. You don't want that taking hits while attached to you. Nice job on the tracers. For more action you could place some bombers at altitude (they may be escorting) or show other fights by adding contrails showing where they are far off. This will not muck up the scean and add more to the background.

I agree on the perspective, patrick, although I didn't really see it until you pointed it out. I think I see the problem (the cockpit). It's so small, even from that angle. Like half of it is cut off or it's made for a monkey/midget. Some of those bullet streaks are just as wide as the windows.

I'm grateful you included the closeup. All the exaugst pipes should be uniform shouldn't they? Same angle, same shape. This almost makes them look like they're flapping in the wind or something.

I must say, the colours are awesome and well defined. Very actionable shot. You might consider some paratroopers in the distance and/or flak cannon explosions in the sky giving some nice orange/red illumination from behind.

You're right. This is much moodier. And now full of action! Great stuff - very sexy. (I still think the cockpit is off though)
