    Hi everyone,
I'm new here, and to be honest, I am not sure how this site works yet, so I am going to try and post some of my work and go from there.

    Best,
    Tom Fleming

Thanks man! Yes, most of the color work is 85% watercolor with a little color pencil and acrylic thrown in. The B&W piece is just pencil. my website URL is www.flemart.com. Looking forward to meeting everyone here.

    Best,
    Tom

Nice work, man. I would recommend attaching an image so that you have a little thumbnail off to the side of your thread. I almost skipped over this thread because you left it blank! I'm glad I didn't....

I would have to say your suicidal clown is amazing! More for the creative viewpoint of the weapon in the foreground. Very impressive!

Luis Royo-ish, but with more of a classical/spiritual flavor. Hints of Maxfield Parrish and Boris Vallejo.

Thanks! No Royo influence, but absolutely Parrish & Vallejo. The "Angela" piece was actually a homage to Parrish's "Ecstasy".

Hey Aly, thanks! CA was recommended to me by Todd Lockwood, so I thought I would check it out. Is the "Fantasy Art Now 2" book coming out any time soon?

Everyone seems really cool here, and what a great reception.

So how does one get on the cover of Heavy Metal?
San Diego comic con? Grease elbows with Kevin Eastman?

Sometimes the work featured in it makes me cringe, but this isn't bad, aside from being a little too busy, and the somewhat stiff poses on some of these (Angela, Spring)

One gets on the cover of Heavy Metal by sending in samples of ones artwork and gets selected. I've never met Kevin Eastman and haven't been to ComicCon in 14 years. "Spring" is a stiff pose? hmmm, ok, I always welcome critique, but I'm not sure if I agree with you on this one.

    Brilliant works.

The tall, framed watercolor painting is a stunner. I would love to have that hanging on my wall.

    Companion piece

Thanks man! Here is the companion piece to "Eve". I do offer both as Giclee prints on canvas and watercolor paper on my website, and will give a 20% discount for any members of this website if it is mentioned(I apologize for the shameless plug, but you did say you would like to hang it on your wall ).

hello again tom, just wanted to add that you have given watercolor its rightful place in the fine art and illustration community. I dont think watercolor gets the respect it deserves sometimes and you, sir, are a frontrunner for the watercolor revolution!!!!

Maybe sometime you would be able to explain your process to us. Like if you use reference, the layering process of putting down the paint, where the ideas come from, sketches/thumbnails. If and whenever you have time, Im sure everyone would be so very grateful.

Thanks again Scott! I think you are right about the prejudice of watercolor in contrast to the respect and prices that Oils and acrylics get. I would be happy to share some techniques with the group and actually have a book coming out in Sept. called "Draw & Paint Fantasy Females/The Art of Tom Fleming" The book has a bunch of step-by-step demo's and I could easily share some of them here. Since I'm very new to this site, where would I post the demo, here or another forum? BTW, I love the idea of a "Watercolor Revolution"!!!

Yes, that would be great if you have the time! Myself, and many others would really appreciate so see how you create your work. A book... I will definately be buying that!
Also, to answer your question, I think the correct forum you would post it in is here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=42
I apologize if that is the wrong forum, I often get confused myself!
