2009 USPDF Pole Dance Competition Highlights (SAFE for work)

Some amazing athleticism for a non professional sport. Who wants to see this in the Olympics?

Pretty amazing stuff. Must have taken years of practice to get to that level.

Weird, that embedded video now shows for me as a "Britain's Got Talent" video. Anyone else not seeing the pole dancing?

Wow. That Sara Cretul chick was busting out moves that looked like breakdancing, but on a pole...badass. The girl that won it though....holy crap...bending your body, backward, starting from an upside down mid air suspension...That's as good as, and looks harder than any gymnastics routine I've ever seen.

This is a performance by the Miss Pole Dance Australia winner (2006 and 2008). She is, in my opinion, one of the best out there. Simply by how elegant and easy she makes it look

I think it's awesome that they all still wear high-heeled shoes, even though they apparently play no role in their routine whatsoever.

I was talking about this with my friend (who's a stripper) and she told me that high boots are cheating, because they stick to the pole and make even bad dancers look good. Apparently the heeled shoes make your legs look longer too (like most of them needs that!)

How awesome! Pole dancers just make their bodies appear like liquid and create such dead sexy gestures. A friend of mine put up a stripper pole in her living room (much to the delight of her fiancee) and she and a buncha our friends have started to learn pole dancing as well. I'm probably the runt of the pack skill-wise but I have a newfound respect for all of those moves and for the upper body strength a lady needs - and to make it look effortless!

Though the best part of this setup is that when we're tired, we can take turns drawing eachother on the pole.

    Qitsune:
Tis true, anything pleather will give you more grip. No worries to me if the shoes make your legs look longer though, it's all about using it to your advantage. One of the first things I learned was how to walk the pole and use it to distribute more weight to one hip over another; really exaggerates the female swagger and makes them hips look yummy!

Yes, this is true. I pole dance myself, and boots are definitely cheating. With PVC boots you can hold on forever The heels add a level of difficulty to it, but do make your legs look longer.
