    The year is 2012..

    The year 2012

From out of space comes a runaway planet, hurtling between the Earth and the Moon, unleashing cosmic destruction. Man's civilization is
    cast in ruin.

Two thousand years later, Earth is reborn...

A strange new world rises from the old: a world of savagery, super science, and sorcery. But one man bursts his bonds to fight for justice! With his companions Ookla the Mok and Princess Ariel, he pits his strength, his courage, and his fabulous Sunsword against the forces of evil.

    He is Thundarr, the Barbarian!

Cool things about Thundarr the Barbarian:
Alex Toth and Jack Kirby did the character designs
Ookla the Mok is an awesome name for a band

    ...and that's about it.

If I recall correctly Ookla is meant to be the phonetic pronuonciation of UCLA, which, as I understand it, is the place where Ookla was found.

Whatever the case, I've always had a soft spot for this show. I've love to see it released on DVD some time. Unless it already has and I missed the boat.
