Razorleaf: Your vote isnt showing in the poll. Try hitting it again...

I also voted for Tom Garden, I think the rendering is subtle, buttery and delicious. Plus the design is super cool and I love a head tail as much as a glowing brain... putting the two together is an easy sell for me....

    New round is on:

I voted for the longest brain. Really though, Tom Garden great job with the rendering. Very soft natural muscles, and just enough dash of color on that beast.

ChromaticCodex-Nice creature. It looks a bit top heavy but nice rendering.
skunk257-Nice concept, but I thinks it could use a bit more texture and something to show of its scale.
Tom Garden*-Great Job Mate, great rendering. Got my vote, I think you got this one in your pocket. Only thing I could hold against you in this one is that you didnt draw the human next to it. I initially thought it was a bit smaller in scale, until I saw the sketch in your sb.
Verehin-nice critter design. The pose is a bit weird though. Needs a bit more natural flow.
acb-Good attempt, but needs more detailing in the different areas. Its bit to bland, and needs a detailed focal point to draw attention.
geronimo66-Good idea, but the contrast between the hand drawn parts and photo's is a bit too much, making it a bit unbalanced.
6strings4life-Try working on those values to give your design more volume.
Reymus-Nice idea, the creature looks like it needs a something as a floatig device. The composition is really a bit too busy.
corza334-nice, but the perspective is off. Maybe a more dynamic viewpoint would be more dramatic.
Buchmaler-Lovely detailed creature. Would have been better withouth the dark hand in the background, maybe a simple lightsource in the bkg would have been enough.
waynedavis1977-Great creature. The values are a bit flat though. The blue/purple streaks in the back are distracting.
dadoalmeida-nice one, the colored version look flat, needs more variation in the values.
Crowsrock-Nice lighting from the brain, but ultimately the values make it flat
daveneale-Nice and simple design. A bit more texture on the skin would sell it more.
Teundeboer-nice start, but looks unfinished, try adding more love to the coloring and shading.
Pierropod-Funny critter. The bandages on its back make his body a bit flat though. They dont seem to curve enough.
3mMajster-Nice, but needs more work on the values. try working in higher res.
Lexa-Looks cool, but try variating in the skin values.
scorge-Nice, but lacks the punch and flow of your latest entries. It seems a bit more flat, the values could vary a bit more.
skullbeast-Wow, visual attack! While very cool, I would advise to concentrate the saturated colors/detail in one spot to draw the attention of the viewers.
Lander-Nice creature, but a bit hard to descern its features in the darkness.
Pic-It looks like the creature is flattened on a glass plate. Try a bit more dynamic pose to bring out the character.
Alm0st-Like the story. Try working at a higher rez so you can really work in those details.
theHaggard-I like the design, but the creature lacks volume. Try playin with the values.
timtim-Funny creature, I think it would have been nice if you colored the shadows, instead of using the lineart.
Jerik-I like the colors, but is needs a bit more variation to bring out the details.

I voted for Daveneale because it's cute and well done (I'm a little tired of angry creature
The Tom Garden's creature is very well done, clean and everything but it's hard to me to imagine this creature walking.

First of all, thanks guys accepting my entries in COW. This activity looks fast and intense. Perfect to practice.
At this momment (since it's my first participation) I woul'd make comments about all the entries. I do prefer discover your works and style first then try to critique/comment. Anyway, I think most of the entries are very original (and that's gonna be something I'll focus here).

My vote is for the Vidnaxian created by Scorge; That creature
get the most of the theme. It really looks a dangerous outher world creature, who use a powerfull brain to control another species. The anatomy, shapes are nice, and techinaly it's well rendered. Congrats man!

And my congratulations to all who add more creatures to the COWcylopedia. ;-)

    Zwhy.

    Voted in Tom garden.
Cause the art is awesome, and the concept behind the brain is hyper great.

well.. Tom Garden got my vote... not because its the most inhuman... or longest... but it looks good... has a nice concept to back it up and i've never seen it (or the style) before ... well done man...

    other mentionable-s
Supervlieg.... your critter is really nicely drawn and the tentacles nearly changed my mind of this... but still... it's a monkey... with a glowy brain, same problem as my 6-legged raven about 4 Cows back

Scorge: your's as per usual is excellent in design and execution. very well done

Buchmaler ........... *twitch* ... well creepy

Skullbeast: something rather unlike your usual creations... i like it... but it is missing something that the other work i've seen of your's has.

Pic: similar to supervlieg's... looks too similar to an original animal... more alien would be preferred.

Tom Gardens alien got my vote, simply because it looks great.

If I had more votes they would have gone to Scorge and daveneale.

Many thanks guys, seems like length does matter!

The walking issue, yeh i promise it can walk, if i could upload a video of me doing its "Walk" i would.....but err...i wont!

Some good variety in entries this round i voted for dadoalmeida because i really loved the creature. Now for a little crit - the pencil sketch turned out better than the final render, try and keep that energy in your final render. I really like the way your creature works and how it feeds, you obviously thought out its design regarding this. I like how its not a conventional shape in its structure too. It would have been great if you had time to illustrate its feeding method in little thumbnail sketches. great work!

I think we really do need to see that Yakoar walk video before you officially win. What can I say that hasn't been said? Lovely painting Mr. Gardner; you get my vote!

I voted for Tom Garden too... for the concept and the loverly painting. The only crit I have is that I don't buy the jointing on it's front legs... alien or not, I don't think those knees will work.

Vote went to Tom Garden. I loved the idea of the long brain, plus the creature itself is beautifully executed. Well done.

Voted TomG. Congrats on a well deserved win man.

SuperV: Thanks for the comments. I think I tried too hard to try to get the light just right and failed. The more and more i look at it, the less I like it. Digging the ape man. Always nice to see you.

Daveneale, I like your entry. It shows that something as gross as a visible, let alone glowing, brain doesn't have to be scary, it can be cute.
