Just draw ffs! CRITIQUE WANTED! (30/07/2013)
NEWER STUFF IN THE BACK OF COZ!
UPDATE 01/11 2009 - Ok, I have to take the bull by the horns. I have started realising now that I have been an ignorant fool. I have been too lazy with studies, that's the reason why I haven't progressed much at all (got a rant about me being pathetic on page 2, I will leave it be so I can learn from it). I have to start over from square one. So this is the date, from now on I will study as hard as I fucking can!
Please, bash me, trash me, I want to get better and reach my goals and there's no other way then study and not being lazy as I have been so far. I want to improve and get good at drawing!
Hello, I am 23 years old and I am currently on my fifth year studying Evolutionary Biology at my local university. I have always loved to draw since I was a kid but it have only been a hobby, something I do at the side of my studies. I am hoping that I might after my Bachelor's degree (or Master's degree) that I will pursue 3D and art because if I am going to be honest to myself then there is nothing I would rather do, biology fades in comparison to the world of art.
Right, I guess you want to see some drawings, so here are two I made recently.
The first one is a study I made on Robert Campin's Portrait Of A Woman from the year 1430 which I did with the mouse (original: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/384...b98720cc96.jpg).
The second one is a sketch of an idea I had on some small creatures with masks that have looted a matchlock rifle.
I hope you enjoy, and I would very much appriciate any critique, comments and advise you post.

Lord M, nice work, on the portrait some clean up and some of the edges are a bit soft... other than that amazing!
I love these crow guys and I'm with Grandma to get working on rendering these out...
You just started a sketchbook? I thought you had one before, well nicely done and I loved the Arthur u-tube, still laughing!

I thought I would reply to your comments next time I updated my sketchbook so I don't bump it unneseserly, but seeing I haven't yet then I must say I'm sorry for the late replies.
I'm very glad you liked it, alesoun. Thank you.
Grandmassa Mr. Spect, thanks man for checking my sketchbook out. I am thinking on rendering those three guys sometime not too soon I hope.
Thanks for the kind words and your advise, kelly x. As I said to Grandma I will try and get them rendered sometime soon, I'm very glad you both liked them.
When I first joined CA I thought that I would someday soon start a sketchbook, but looks like it took a couple of years. And yeah the Arthur u-tube thing is amazing, if you want more of the kind of things in the same spirit, then search for youtube poop - lots of hilarious shit.

You could certainly use an art degree with biology. The famous James Gurney used his Archeology degree with his arts in order to create... DINOTOPIA! I hope.. I mean that looks like the logical conclusion lol.

Oh I haven't watched my sketchbook since last post, because I thought noone would post in it untill I might have posted something new.
Diphallia - Tackar!
clockworksnail - Thank you!
Shalite - Hehe, thanks man. Nope, they're not inspired by Spy vs Spy, I had to look it up to know what it was. I thought them up on my own, based on a ream I had some years ago.
RedSquirrel - No problem. I try to use my tablet, but it's too small and I always end up using the mouse, but I'll be getting a Cintiq 3 A4 soon. Glad you like it.
kelly x - Glad you want more, so here's some!

Sorry for the late replies, guys.
clockworksnail - Thank you, I'm really glad you like it. Oh, btw it's not a mouse it's a squirrel, but I can see why you misstook it, all those scribbly lines everywhere I made.
monstertree - Thanks! Yes, I felt I learned a lot in the study, thinking about making another old medieval painting study sometime soon.
Marsch - High five, man! Very nice to meet someone else that studies biology aswell, especially on a place like this dedicated to art. I hope you wouldn't mind me asking what kind of subject you're planning to digg yourself deeper into?
Oh and thanks a lot for the link, that guys art is truly awesome. Gotta look more into it.
Asatira - Thanks! Even though I did it with my mouse it took too long, and I'm going to try and do it with tablet since it's so faster.
Oh and here's two new thingies from me, both for the current CHOW. Yesterday I painted up the masked guy, but then thought it reminded me a bit of Star Wars somehow, so I scrapped it. Btw, this is my first only tablet drawn/painted piece! Pretty glad how he turned out though.
Then I sketched up this undead nun, which I later got to know that I unknowlingly copied from the game Brütal Legend (which I am now planning to buy), so I scrapped it aswell. And then I went back to the first mask guy and thought I might try and work on it a bit and see what I get.

wanimal - Hey thanks man!
PaulVI - Thanks a lot for your words and the subscription, makes me really happy that someone would want to subscribe to my thread.
Solaire007 - Really glad you can enjoy my dooldes.
Lately a friend of mine have encouraged me to do some pelvis studies which I did after Gottfried Bammes, Mentler here on CA (check his Book of Bones out, it's amazing) and András Szunoghy. My result so far can be seen in image one. I still have a lot to learn and I want to learn more and get better on drawing the pelvis from mind. I used Mentlers rule of dividing it into squares and then building it up from there. I will later do some ribcage studies when I get more time.
Image two shows a humanoid creature that I based a bit on, mostly the head, the deep sea lizardfish. I kinda see it as a study of making a creature and basing it on human anatomy, I also tried to do some shadow and light studies in it.
Image three shows how I would imagine Pikachu from pokemon if he entered the Mr Universe competition after years of steroid abuse.
I hope you like it.
