    art rage

hey, i hope that this is in the right section, but does anybody use, or have used the program art rage? and if so, how does it compare to something like photoshop elements. what opinions do people have who have used it. i want to use a program that can create buush, real paint, and palete knife efects like some of the more expensive programs like corel painter.

art rage is pretty lightweight, but awesome for painterly sketches and speedpaints. i tend to use it as a starting point before taking it to photoshop.

the full version of artrage is quite worth it, too (transparency!)

right, thanks. to be honest i used it to start off with, but i use photoshop all the time now. i supose it does just depend on the intended effect of whatever piece you are doing.

for a traditional appearance, along side simplicity, you can't beat artrage, great brushes, and by adjusting a few dials here and there you can achieve essentially any effect that you can replicate in the other painting programs like photoshop and painter.

i left art rage because it's palette knife was too primitive and created colours without warning here and there..

I love Art Rage! I just wanted it to have a square brush, but for the rest, it´s a great program. It replicates almost every thing you can do with real paint. You just have to use it and learn.

You can see some of the works i created using it, here: http://carlosrannasketches.blogspot.com/

Art Rage 3 will have watercolor and a bunch of new stuff so it's better to wait if you plan on getting the pay version.
