Foo's Sketchbook - updated 02/21/11
Not sure if I want to make a career out of art, but I really want to improve. Advice and comments about what I need to work on will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the comments guys, glad you like em. Once I get my Cintiq in a few weeks I plan on updating this sketchbook a lot more.
This ones a WIP I started a few months ago, but never got around to finishing it. Think its pretty cool to see how my style has changed over the past few months.
Second pic is a recent set of plant sketches. Was mainly to figure out how to draw evergreen trees.

Your characters are very dynamic and fun to look at. Great job at cel shading and I specially like the Alligator and the house by the river.

Getting a cintiq got delayed. : | Hopefully I'll get my hands on one in the coming months and be able to update this a poopload more!
Did a few quick sketches and tried coloring them all with different techniques. Think I'm gonna stick with and try to experiment more with the way I colored Frankie.

Remade the cat from above, something I did almost exactly a year ago. I'm pretty amazed at how much I've improved. Still have a lot to work on though, and this picture made realize I'm in no way developing like I want. Sketching in my style is teaching me nothing. So, gonna start re-teaching myself anatomy then start drawing from life and whatnot.
Before and after, my attempt at coloring, and a crap'o'licious arm muscle study from Bridgman with my horrible spelling of the muscles Bycep, bicep, same thing!

Love your stuff man. I kinda wish you had variations in your line work though. It is super crisp, but variation would really make it pop
J: Don't call my escorts hookers.
B: Mom's still got it!
J: I don't date whores!
L: This objectification of women has to stop!
M: It's just mom and whores...

I'm really happy you decided to start drawing again. What made you decide to do it? Did you miss it for a long time and felt like doing it again? Anyway, glad you kept with it. You have some great stuff on here. I'm glad to see you are doing some anatomy studies too. Try painting from observation a little more often too. Overall great job and keep it up.

Istmin52 - Ya, after going a while not drawing I just got this empty feeling along with an unfulfilled creative urge. Hitting the paper again fixed that! Been drawing from observation recently too and it's been helping a lot. Thanks for the tip!
Everyone else - glad you enjoy my art!
Got some free time and had an urge to do some Venture Bros fanart. Not much of an update, but its something.
Release the motherf*cking butterflies!!!
Eventually just got tired of it and gave up on em. Was good pose practice though. His right arm looks a little weird, looked better without his chest piece.
This drawing made me hate my tablet even more. It takes me so long to line and my art comes out looking forced and unnatural. I'm praying that with a cintiq I'll be able to draw like I do on paper and give my work a more organic feel and flow.

Been fighting depression and anxiety for the past year or so, hence the lack of updates. Been feeling great though lately and have started to doodle a lot. I hope to update this much more!
Some sketches from a few months ago and from the moon down is recent. Starting to become interested in learning to paint. Attempted a black and white of Sitting Bull yesterday... made his eyes bulge out a tad too much! ><

I love your characters, and their expressions, your style is awesome.
Quick question, how do you get such awesome linework after your sketches, are you using the pen tool or what?
Cheers, and keep up the awesome work. Your WIP for this week's CHOW is looking great too.

Droid - I just zoom in and go over my sketch with a basic brush with shape dynamics and other dynamics turned on. Sorry it took me so long to reply, been kinda in an artistic slump lately and haven't been checking my stuff >_< If ya got any other questions feel free to pm me or post here, I'd be happy to help!
Alright got some stuff to dump. Sadly that intergalactic mailman chow didn't work out for me. I always get my lineart done and then get completely stumped when it comes to coloring. It did get me experimenting though and now i find I'm getting a tad more comfortable coloring.
Here's the intergalactic mailman, the zodiac warrior I didn't finish, a pokemon sketch I didn't fin, an undead wizard, and a quick bust.
