AdrianNagorski - Thanks, I think maybe you're right - Could try less contrast on him maybe since I think the size of him is alright?

Couple of arm and value studies and an update on this - Also some shitty character I started as a lighting exercise after looking at some of Cole Eastburn's sketchbook. I wasn't going to post it but might as well show what I've been doing

    Jasper - Thanks man

A rather dodgy photo study - I find these really difficult, guess I need more practice

His size is perfect, and as with Mr Franzetta he hinted at great movement and
power in his paintings you've done the same, you've totally nailed that to be honest
I can see the ball crushing down towards the red cape guy as he intercepts with sword,
anatomy wise the fore-shortening looks to me spot on, color palette as with Mr Frazetta is great
limited as he use to do it works well, the distance issue is either the guy will the ball will
ran max speed into the hero or trip over, personally i ain't good at painting at all so if you use contrast
if that ends up giving you like a meter distance between them that could work,
i notice the chain can be used as a proportion for distance between the two characters,
    sorry for to much txt
but in any case i think its great its got action its got grittyness and you
nailed some Franzetta elements so on a whole
its still a great composition and image im slightly jealous that instead of copying
like i did you analyzed and implemented your own thing using a great artist as an
inspiration i guess i'll have to work on that in the future.

awesome character designs man, your figure painting style too, great stuff. If its one thing I could critique you on in general, I think you should explore composition a little more when dealing with environments. Keep up the stellar ish.

AdrainNagorski - Thanks, I think the guy with the mace is a bit off balance anyway - I never really decided whether I wanted him to look as if he's lost his footing after swinging the mace or if he's about to swing it - I should have spent more time on the gestures (as usual). I wouldn't worry about copying his work, I think you could do a lot worse than study Frazetta's stuff

Sprogis7 - Thanks mate, composition is one of my major weaknesses!

    n1frit - Thanks

Dude, very nice studies. I love the drama in the first one. It's interesting because despite it being a study, you still maintain your specific style. Good job, very inspirational.

It's really inspiring to see your paintings, especially the ChoW ones! Composition and values are really powerful. (I simply adore the Chess pieces)

    Keep up the amazing work

    Goood stuff.
Very dynamic compositions and cool designs.
Only crit would be too much black, or almost black.
I know high contrast adds drama but I feel like when its everywhere it flattens the image.

    !

Shadow Stalker - Thanks man. I'm enjoying these studies, I just hope I get as much out of them as some guys on this forum are getting

    BenjaminJL92 - Thanks a lot

    Sickbrush - Thank you!

    e-nat - Thanks!

    Yor - Thanks mate!

    Zikes - Thank you!

SMILEFACE - Thanks man, glad you like my work! I'm loving the stuff you do in the Wasted thread

Xelar - Thanks a lot for the crit - I think you're right, I have been tending to go crazy on the whole high contrast thing - I'll take note, cheers

    Velocity Kendall - Cheers mate

I've been away for a week staying at a friends house and I havn't got much done - I did a couple of bad environment concepts for a 3D modelling project he's starting based on a sort of post apocalyptic shanty town on an island. I'll probably be doing some more like this (hopefully better)

Also just some sketches for the last CHoW - Supernatural Noir Detective. I might still do something for this even though its finished now

Your latest environments are RIDIC. can you please tell me, on post #228 the first enviro, do you use a brush to create those tiny slum type buildings in the background or is that some kind of photo wizardry because i wonder every time i see this effect i really want it and cant figure it out.
    Love your sketchbook SUBD.

tamirespp - Thanks, yeah I do, sometimes just overlays to get some colour information going, sometimes I use them more heavily like in the last character

TFsean - Thanks - its various lasso selections and photo textures on varying opacities and blending modes to get that

skyfall - Just the main ones really, Bridgman, Loomis etc - the most recent ones are from Glenn Vilppu

    Giorge - Thanks

Few new things, I had a go at the IDW since I'm pretty bad with industrial design (terrible actually), ended up looking like a normal bike... A couple of quick limited value studies and something for the new CHoW (WIP)
