    Painting in Photoshop?

    I would like to paint some of my drawings in Photoshop and am in search of tutorials. I've already exhausted all of my Googling skills and have spent lots of time searching these forums for any tutorials that might help. I did find a few tutorials on the subject, but they weren't much help. I would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me of some tutorials on the subject.

    (I'm using Photoshop 7.0)

    Many schools have photoshop classes/clubs. Either in-school or after school. I suggest that you take one of those.

    Many might, but none in my vicinity do. And besides, if there's something you can be taught in a classroom there's almost certainly the same information to be found on the internet. So why leave the comfort of my home when I don't need to?

    using photoshop to create art

    In addition to photoshop you are going to need painter or the freebie from ambient art called art rage. First you fix your photo in photoshop. Remove distracting background, adjust color, etc. Then you take it to painter and paint over the digital "tracing paper". It takes alot of work and practice. The link for the freebie from ambient art is on my website under "about the artist". good luck, RA www.arnstdigital.com

    Personally, I wish found this Tutorial when I first started useing photoshop. Really wish more Photoshop tutorials were focused on painting instead of showing me how to turn a Photo into a painting useing filters.

    You don't need Painter in order to paint digitally. Corel Painter and Photoshop can both get the job done.

    Echarin, you can always check out the "photoshop" section in CA. I believe there are few threads related to painting in photoshop. I don't think it's important what program you use, so long as you stick to one when you are starting out just to avoid confusion. My advice would be to avoid dodge/burn/blur/smudge and just start painting simple things around you using default brushes. Painting is a simple process, well at least the painting bit is, the theory is lot more complex as we all know.

    As Illiumzx pointed out, you don't want filters, so don't use it, take a simple approach.
