Hapun's Sketchbook - 4/14
Hello everyone, I'm Hapun!
I finally stopped lurking and got myself one of these sketchbook thingamajiggers.
I hope to draw comics for a living when I grow up but planning on majoring in either illustration or animation, I'm not quite sure yet.
And since I'm going to need to make a portfolio for college this year, let's cross our fingers and hope I improve enough to receive scholarships when I apply. (Arrghhhh recession *weeps*) So all critiques are welcome and appreciated!
To start off here's a quick self-portrait, I'll post some more right after this.

Some figure drawing, recent POW pages, and some embarrassingly old manga pages. (how embarassing Couldn't post em all up)
edit: OH GAH, this system of uploading is very confusing... Sorry for the muddled mess here)

You're embarrassed by those Manga pages? They're fantastic! I can't do anything like that. How did you get so darn good?
I also like the first self portrait. Nice range of fleshtones

Judging from the tiny bit I've seen so far, you're really close to those scholarships! Show us more! Everything looks good - even those manga pages!
Welcome to CA and give us more to look at!

Hey this is some good stuff. Those comics exhibit some nice, clear storytelling. I like the figure studies too.

Thank you for all your kind comments everyone! (Ugh I should probably thank individually but I'm a lazy butt) It makes me feel kind of a relief haha!
Karaudo: At the moment Calarts character animation is my top choice, but I'm also planning on applying Art Center (illustration), MICA (illustration), SVA (illustration/cartooning) and Cooper Union for now.
I might actually apply to AAU since it's close to home, and i took their figure drawing + comics beginning for their summer pre-college a year or so back, but they don't seem to have a lot of scholarship opportunities. Ahaha what would you say about their program?? (Oh and what are you taking there, your art is amazzinnnggggg *weep*)
Lots of sketches in this update, not much finished work
There's some concepts for comics here and there in these.

NateShaw Thank you for you kind words!
Eerin I think I showed it to you, it's of akadotretail though.
Leo Ki Thank you! And I really need to post something in that ring...
Grandmassa Mr. Spect Me too! Too bad it doesn't seem to get that much loving around the CA forums... I'll have some to post up here eventually!
Anyway, some post-prom sketches. I'm still incredibly tired...
Hopefully I'll have tons of stuff next week during my break!
ARGH just realized that my pages are somewhat thin... I'll have to keep that in mind in the future.

Unbelievable. CalArts would be mad not to take you--I think your work would fit in perfectly there, judging from other portfolios I've seen. Really looking forward to future updates.
