thanks a lot everyone, i really dont deserve any of this. I'm looking forward to the exhibitions, haven't sold a work for 6 months now apart from the very rare freelance thing that comes my way, so hopefully I can sell some things as I am broke!

yor- thanks man, i'll try take progress shots when I can remember to do it.
    Dile: thanks buddy
    DC- Oils
    artzealot- wait no more

ryan- i use gac 100 or matt medium to prime it, both are good. Medium? everyones different, try em all. liquin is good for fast drying, linseed is nice. Experience and experimentation is the answer. i use oil pastels, no rules there just have fun and play around with them. i dont have a specific process because i dont know what the fuck i am doing

h2rra: you can buy cobalt driers, siccatives, liquin medium or anything like that- just ask your art store. You should try a few and see how they work. it is hot in Aus and oils dry quickly when left in the sun

thanks sony hope you like this update.

timaz- yeah i started with loomis he is amazingly good at that. Personally i work with simple broad shapes and move to complex inner shapes and keep it as simple for as long as i can before rendering.

rusty: thanks buddy i will definitely need a lot of booze to cope, I hate seeing my stuff on the walls, it's so embarrassing!!

    Thanks so much everyone!
Anyway, here are some new pages and stuff.

Absolutely love the works, it reminds me of Joao Ruas. A lot like the style I would like to achieve The topics are great, a kind of mixing of high-arts and more illustrative actions.

Do you have a certain proces to get to your ideas? I like to keep a notebook, but I always get inspired in the wrong places and times - so when I actually get to my easle, there's nothing left

The painting looks great too, I love how you use the saturated colours in the shadows. Makes it so vibrant, cant wait to see the whole thing!

Thanks, although after seeing his works in person it's abundantly clear that he's riding a golden cloud of goodness above us mortals. His work really is on another level.

To answer your question, I use a notebook too- gotta get those ideas down before they fly away!!

Thanks a lot everyone!!! Really appreciate the kind words as always and yeah it's been fun bringing these pages together.

Last night I attended the opening of a group show at Gallery Nucleus in LA, featuring the work of greats like Barron Storrey, Wes Burt, Joao Ruas, Andrew Hem and more, of which I was incredibly blessed to also have my art included. If you'd like more info, click here
Hurry though- it's only up for three more weeks!

Some works from the show and photos:

Had these up too, which you've seen

Had a blast on the opening night filling up my inspiration tank to the brim as I got the chance to meet so many great, cool people who really make me want to work harder. Good times. Please do check it out if you are in the area.

Haha, I think the works“ really great.
And don“t bring yourself down, being sure of what you can (and can't do) is the first part of the process (Although it's hard for me too).
I was rereading your earlier posts, and I kind of am in the same situation now.

I'm working 5 days a week, but am also involved in two bands. Which is kind of rough, because I set out to be a working man and artist at the same time, and later music also came along. Now I'm juggling, working for different projects but also trying to squeeze in studies of art and music in my spare time. I've got so much on my mind, and such a high quality standard that I can't get any work done.

It feels like every thing I do, needs to be 'important' - at least to me. Which kind of blocks the creative process. If I'm noodling during my main job, I always get better results than if I'm sitting down behind my easle in the evening. Got any tips to 'free the mind'? I've got loads if ideas, but actually being confident enough to get them done is a problem. (constantly dreaming up new stuff). Haha, especially while browsing through a sketchbook like yours

Oh and sidenote: do I see some Sebastian Krüger renderings in there ?! (the blues guitarists). My personal favorite artist of all time

Please forgive me if you've been told a few times on different websites, but as it's my first show I'm trying to get the word out as much as possible. If you can make it, please do as I'll be attending from Australia and I'd love to meet you all!

The show will open at Phone Booth Gallery on 2533 East Broadway, Long Beach on Saturday April 16th at 7:00 pm and will finish at 10:00 pm.
    www.phoneboothgallery.com

There should be a total of 23-24 works in the show, as I have been trying to squeeze in some extra work the past few months, so there will be a good amount of unseen work for those who are already familiar with what I've done, as well as plenty of affordable, small works for those who are interested.
I'm also going to be blogging a bit more often, with some hi res sneak peaks, some good news about the Moleskine show in San Francisco, and some info and notes on a Richard Schmid lecture I stumbled into by incredible luck.

If you are interested in attending the show please RSVP on this Facebook events page, because it might help us know how much booze to bring for you all, haha
    http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=207071835988845

Thankyou all for the kind words, I appreciate it and here are some pictures of the work at the framers, and art

Thanks a lot guys. Really happy to hear people are inspired, that's always exciting to know.

Unfortunately I don't have anything of substance to update as I can't share any new stuff fully till the solo show opening.

Set up a little studio in my Uncle's backyard here in LA so I can squeeze in some more art for the shows.
Will post the Schmid lecture notes tomorrow or Sunday.

This is the current piece I'm working on, about 2 days work so far. I think I'll need one more day to finish it. It's pencil, 14" by 17". Might add dashes of pastel after. Sorry for the bad photos, the second one was taken as it was getting dark so it's not very clear.
It's cropped in a bit too, there's more space around it.

And a close up of another piece that's being framed, the detail show is a little bigger than the actual size.

The original is 12" by 19"

and lastly, a shot of my super cool backyard studio
