almost done with these two guys. they have some serious issues, but they only need to work on a thumbnail level anyway. i'll fix that shit later, if need be.

Really cool characters sourgasm. First round finals of what? They for a competition or something?
Love the step by step of the old man. Things like that will help me loads when I move onto digital.

the painted one is very nice, nice flow to the gesture. number 4-5 have issues with wieghting. The shoulders and hips match up parrallel. This is rarely the case, usually the oppose each other to balance the figure. Keep going though dude.

danny c: thank ya. means a lot coming from you!

bri bri: glad the old man can help out in some way. my process is really one-dimensional at this point- lines, values, light, render. i'm still really working on being more efficient in that regard. if you want to get the goods from a master, check out james kei's first figure drawing video. the thumbs are for a school project. its kind of a fake game world of sorts, based on huck finn. also, thanks!

phucci: thanks! that guy is super gay. i'm going to have to work out that particular kink... pun intended ;P

smarty: good call. i'll keep that in mind. thanks!

digital figure drawing with mr kei again. this girl was just awesome.

these are each 20 minutes apart- which should show how ridiculously slow i can be. totally failed on the shirt folds and ran out of time for some important clean-up (chains, arm lines, etc), but learned a lot otherwise.

That last image has some great details! Love how you treated the goggles. Her torso looks a touch on the long side to me...

monotony: thank sway west for that. i always have it wrong until i check against her ;P

    bharat, verehin, jatherip: thanks guys!

maaaattgaaaamer: good to hear. i'm going to have to swing by and check up on you ;p

courtyard: thank ya. she did have a very long torso, plus she was wearing her skirt low, plus i generally fuck things up ;D i'll have to triple check my proportions next time.

Wes set me straight on the border society and I'm going to redo them from the ground up. These are just some general style practice speedies. Proper thumbs to come.

Herr: indeed it does. the word "cartoony" comes to mind :P

Some updates to the border society. I don't have time to get these reviewed, so I have to just take them straight to final (which none of them are yet).

Also, my first cast drawing. I spent around 90 hours on it. I'll upload a better scan later, I just wanted to post it.

nice to see that your ass is getting kicked ( i mean this in a good way ofc), and i envy you for that! you've shown more progress in the 3 pages of this book, than the whole previous sketchbook! that cast looks badass. your characters still have some issues but its nothing comparing to what you used to do =D, not to mention that human figure is the most difficult thing to draw(in my opinion). anyway... keep up the good work, and enjoy the school ^^

call0ps: ha, indeed they do. these guys are going to be shrunk down to thumbnail size once they are actually finished, so i've been fudging the anatomy in a lot of areas. possibly overstylizing, too. anyway, thanks for all the complimentary remarks!

lovin the characters, though that 90 hour study! whew.. tha'ts
mind blowing!! 3+ days of pure cast drawing. great stuff man!

in ones like this.. remember perspective. the fisted hand looks
and along with the foot closer to the viewer look a little big.
i know you flip it... but also try rotating the canvas as well!

great work! thank you so much for the critiques. it helps more
    than you know, man. ;]

bribri, jed, deelock: thanks! had a lot of fun on that one.

matt: thanks, man. i've been meaning to enable the rotate canvas function, but i get the distinct impression my pc will cough and fall over dead immediately.

dr mario: thanks! everything has been really humbling and inspiring at the same time.

zach: thanks! means a lot coming from yourself.

matt: i'm thinking that's the way to go. i've been watching people use the rotate and feature and i just have to give it a try now.

james: thanks! i've been watching your sketchbook for a while and, personally, i don't think you need much schooling. your stuff is fucking awesome.

mikael: i'm not saying its 90 hours worth of quality or anything. i fuckered it a few times and spent time fixing it :P

the final for my sea creature, pretty much. i know, i know.. super phallic. couple of pages from the new sketchbook too. that model was actually asleep, btw.
