Really awesome sketchbook man. I love your creatures and imagination. That dino alike creature is so wicked. Great use of texture. And lovely char as well. Not to speak of your delicious colour picking in that envi study. THat purple in the shades looks damn sweet to the eye. Can't wait to see where you are going bring that crab dude to. Love it.

what alextooth said. both characters are really well set and i wish i could get mine to not float! the middle three poses are good on that sheet.

also liking the life digital study. even though his ear is saggy, it's not that saggy. and the nose seems off, although this guy could be deformed and i wouldn't know unless i saw the reference. ;]

can't wait for that illo to be colored. good things are in this sketchbook!

Last update is wicked. Love those thumbs. Can't wait to see what you'll turn them into if ya will that is. Awesome stuff.
In the last one the lightning seems a bit odd. The girl is hut with light from above so that would be the sun. But the dude in the tree is lit from underneath. I imagine he would also be lit by the sun which would still be above him and all the leaves would cast a nice shadow pattern on him. Still looks wicked though!

That first set of character concepts is fucking cool, I Dont think I've seen much, or any body armor made with the desecrated bodies of giant arthropods before. Brilliant idea!

    Hurry up and post more!

Sexxxy stuff. The cast drawings are inspiring. What'd you use for them and how long did they take?

For the environments, maybe more value differentiation? The third and somewhat the first seem split really definitively between "dark shape" and "light shape". I think more darks in the light shapes and lights in the dark shapes would create more interestingness. So my eye will be coerced to wander around more.

Lovely concepts too! I know they're supposed to be simple but I think some colored lights could enhance the paintings by setting a mood. Except for the guy carrying the yellow lamp, most of them are hit by really stark white light. I think even a hint at a warm or cool light will bring them up another notch.

    Gogogo power rangers!

The theme park environment sketch composition is really interesting. You make my eye wander around in it looking for something.

    thanks guys ;]

yihyoungli- thanks, man. the cast drawings are hb pencil on bristol paper. they took, uh, forever

thanks for the input on the environments too. i constantly struggle with getting my value ranges right. i kept what you said in mind when i worked on these two. maybe more successfully in the first than the second. anyway, hope they look better !

    More stuff on the way.

nice characters and concepts! watch out on that perspective w/the guy in the trees to the girl below, as right now she rests much further back, and hes looking somewhere off the illo in the foreground. If hes about to pounce the perspective will have to be much more radical (3 point)...

damn guys. thanks for all the responses !

huey - bullllllshit. you kill urban environments
smoke - oh yeah, that thing is borked. i learned an important lesson on that one.. don't draw branches.
zacharicious - i'll show you some man diggin
spoon - i use photoshop for everything, save for the occasional sketchup blockin. painter is cool, but using it on an HP laptop is just masochistic ;]

here are a couple quick little skittering guys. mostly i'm posting to let people know that there is an official atelier update thread up and running. check it out: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=185847
