I'll try to help you abit as much as i can, so here are the tips.

First of all i've noticed that you have problems of technical nature, that means you are picking the wrong brush with wrong settings :>

    1. Go to Brush palette and search for the "Hard Round" when you hover mouse over brushes after a sec you should see their names, now go uncheck the "Shape Dynamics", and go to "other dynamics" set them to pen pressure, now make sure that Brush "opacity" and "Hardness" are always set to 100% thats why tablet was made pressure sensitive, control the pressure by your hand and the grip pen ;>

    2. Spacing, go to the brush palette (not the right click one) click on the "brush Tip Shape" tab and on the bottom you'll see spacing slider described in % lower it to around 10% the more you lower it the more smooth it will become but keep it in mind that working on huge files with huge brushes spacing lags them, so 1% is superb smooth but will lag alot 10% is pretty ok.

    3. When painting from photo refference, first of allposition your canvas window next to photo refference window zoom it out and make them look having same size so that you can eyeball the proportion and other stuff from the reff. Usually good idea is to first lay in the bacground as you won't be working on it later. Next Pick the huge brush can be also chalk brush and try to catch the basic shape of the person/object, when you'll get that then start blocking in the colours and for the sake of this exercise don't worry about the details at all yet! When you got the colours blocked siimply start being more precise to finally render it.

    4. Hair tip, i could explain it also but i think Lida Bergvist's tutorial will do it 10x times better than me ;>

    http://www.furiae.com/popup.php?text=hairtutorial

    5. As for eyes keep in mind that they are not perfectly white, go to a mirror and take a look they reflect alot of things from the enviroment plus they have small veins etc etc, and most likely at both end they become more flesh toned rather than being white.

    Hope i helped.

    Hey,

that before and after correction in #33 was really good practice. It looks much better now!
Perhaps you could try to touch up the contours in this painting. You might give your piece more quality with very little effort.

And your eye studies are great! They really have a nice quality Kepp going mate

    ...

ok so what i wanna say its that ...
in my opinion you should let a bit the imaginative stuff a side and focuse 2 or 3
    weeks on anatomy

    and from here **** proportions

and i can't stress enough about the importance of 3 4 min life drawing sketches

take the wide of the pencil and block in the big masses only
or try charcoal dust or every technique that allows you to make solid shapes as fast as possible

remember you will learn a loot of movement and proportions from this

    cheers mate

hehe, okay, you´re really learning it, and it´s getting better and better. immense improvement.
try to avoid total colours in the environment studies. the colours in the distance have less satiation than the one in the near.

so you´re doing well, just keep practicing and you´ll get it.
    bye

wow man that last one is a big improvement
i would really keep going for more along those lines

IMO leave texture alone for a bit longer
and keep trying to get those values and colors spot on

thanks for posting ! keep up the fight !\

also the color wont be the same in the foreground as it is in the backround and if they are
it just makes the painting hard to read IE: those whiteish lights look to be the exact same color from the closest
to the farthest so its hard and confusing to read

    hope that makes sense

thanks for dropping by my sketchbook !

ive got another thing to add which would be
to paint from life either some still life or
get out in the fresh air because often times
in photos color gets pretty mutilated by the camera

have a good evening keep the updates coming ^ ^

    Yo Danneh!

Great improvemnt i must say, that subway piece is showing it all.
Keep doing more of theese color studies, but try using less photos and paint more from life if possible, also try to benefit more from the layer system that PS has to offer and use some blend modes on them.

A tip. when painting something let's say red if u observe it enough carefully you will see that it has more red tones rather than 1 or 2 try implement it to your stuff.

As i said before you are on right path, just keep walking.

You're clearly improving, but some of your paintings still lack contrast (mostly it's the environments). Maybe doing some simple still lifes with graphite or charcoal might help. This way you're not distracted with colors and simply need to render the tone of the light as well as you can. After getting good at this you'll get an easier time when working with colors.

And I lolled at the Starcraft comic. Thats a great idea!

Those eyes are looking great, altho the lack some contrast as the guy above me said. I also find their light reflections look very weird, not real. try to playa round with blend modes to enchance them. Also don't be afraid to make an adjustment layer, like lvels, contrast/brightness or epxosure, it can really improve overall feel.

    Keep it up, reporting out.

    hey guys!
been awhile since my last post, bah so busy barely had time to draw this month
    any way

Icecold you are right! the reflections suck! big time lol didn't see that will take notice of that for next time.

pantless_wanderer yes I am working more on contrast and values now just check out my next piece

this one is for the blizzard contest, I start with grayscale so I dont have to worry about anything else for now except values and composition and after that I can start put color on it, I never tried this before so this is very experimental for me.
The orc looks too much like lord of the rings orc imo but I think I will leave him as it is. I like the red flag it kind of fills in the atmosphere and leads the viewers eye to the right direction what do you guys think? opinions about composition values color anything at all will be greatly appreciated!

you're critique guys worth gold so don't hesitate to drop a word or two!

    cheers!
