Iz on, bitch.
Iz on, bitch.
Our topic is....
Zombies of the FUTURE!
But first, we need some requirements.
1.) Medium - Pencil renderings only, or PS/Painter?
2.) Style - Character concept or rendering with a backgroudn and whatnot?
3.) Any specs? Is this the zombie of a cyborg? Is it a zombie brought back to life with a mechanical device? Any guidelines whatsoever?
Get back to me on these ASAP, please.

OK! Got an idea! Feel free to post some in-progress pics. I don't really think we have to keep it top secret.
tried some prelim sketches....
your sooo gonna kick my ass so theres no point in me keeping my ideas secret cos u wont wanna use em anyway hahaha...
Im sorta regretting saying non-digital now, cos i dun think i can pull off my lighting with traditional material oh well rules r rules!
hrm ill post some prelims when i sort out
*Perspective on a lowered face
*How to render rusted metal
*The reaction of a body to an upward pulling motion at the wrists
That enough of a teaser??
Damn! Sounds bitchin! I'm personally thinking of doing multiple pieces, following the development of my "zombie device," but that could changem depending on how much time I find between now and February.
after reading through the other challenge posts, i think we need to submit more than just one piece so how about this::
ZOMBIES of the FUTURE
Subject: Character design: Zombie of the future -- if we define zombies as we know them to be:
Dead humans resurrected via arcane arts to serve the resurrector-- we can then translate this into a futuristic setting.
Style: Open choice
Media: Traditional media for all except masterpiece (explained below)
*Character may be any gender, age, size.
*All pieces must show that the character is both a zombie AND resides in the future
* 3 pieces:
---1: Character design (traditional media) showing a static front view of the character in a neutral pose.
---2: A double - page traditional media spread showing NEAT sketches of poses, closeups etc -- these are sketches of ideas and details for the character but they must be neat and well presented.
---3: A masterpiece -- a colour render (digital or traditional) of the character (this does not necissarily have to show the character in normal behaviour -- it is simply a finished piece with the character as the subject)
any objections, just let me know.
also dementist, you can chat with me on msn messenger if you have it -- email@example.com (im almost always on)
zombies of the future sounds so gay.
hehehe im really pleased with my sketches so far.
this is gonna be my best piece yet by FAR...chizzaaaaa
Lol.... I love all the effort you'r eputting into this, my worthy foe. I've been so busy with school and the holidays that I haven't had a chance to start yet -_- Make sure to post some prelim sketches whenever you can! Can't wait to see your work!
And nice job defining the guidelines. It really helps. Just one thing, however. We're making ONE character, right? Concentrating on just one zombie?
This is by far the most effort ive put into a piece -- prolly cos i just finished school. So much time....sigh....wat to do with it all
I am gonna post my prelims asap but im at work and i dun think the scanner hear is flatbed, its a sheetfeeder which sucks for sketchbooks!
yes we are doing 1 zomb in 3 pieces. Just the one zomb, ,presented differently.
btw do you have somewhere i can lok at your work onlinee, ,i sorta blindly jumped into this.
and when you gonna post YOUR prelims??
Dementist, hast thou succumbed once more to the perilous temptation of grave digging in search of reference material?
I had someone offer to send me some ref pics of graves, cemetaries, and what she likes to term "corpse worms"! I dont want an unfair advantage, so if you think we should use em ill get em posted in this thread. otherwise i wont use em at all.
Well, why not make a "reference pool?" Post links to images you think would help. I can't provide many photo refs, but I can hook you up with some great zombie pics by other artists. I have some prelim sketches I did during vlass today, which I'll try to get up. As for my personal work, I dont have a website, so just try searching for my name on conceptart.
wazaaa. just got my school results back. UAI of 93.4! so much better than i expected! thats why ive been so dormant. Anyway heres a few prelim sketches n ideas which turned out weirdly anime hehe.
dont worry my actual work is much better quality than this!
This one is just a basic idea for the composition of the 1st 2 pieces...
did most of this in the car so theyr a bit messy sorry.
