    The Sketching Scribble

    I may start updating again.

We'll see. In the meantime, might as well do a spring clean and get rid of some of the nonsense.

    More Animals

Painted on sketchbook paper using photographic reference.
The gorilla got funny on me.
But it's fun to play with water colors again.
I want to do the sketchbook equivalent of animation as well.
Does anyone have any recommendations for exercises?
...preferably other than the bouncing ball.

Wow, I really like your gestures and line drawings. Such conviction in your lines, and the digital ones are pretty cool too. Working with blocks is good! I'm still struggling to get used to positioning them correctly in space, but these look nice, so keep it up. :]

@themissinglink - I know. I don't mind them. Rather enjoy them. Visual memory and all. But I got told off a lot for "copying" out of books so it's an issue of getting rid of that block. My current tutor doesn't like Bridgman. It's actually rather amusing to watch him cringe. Granted, he's not actually a drawing instructor; he's an animator with a Chuck Jones fixation. Oh well. It's something to do, and it certainly can't hurt!

in the meantime...working on some design/composition things. Looking at using a change in position, scale, colour, etc. This is the monster series. Gonna do some other stuff too.

...and one of these days I'll actually get around to scanning what's in my sketchbook...yeah...

    HAHAHAHA!!! Those monsters!!! Nice.

Bridgman's coming along quite well as is that massive figure dump you did before it. Some minor issues with your heads and necks. Take a second look and see what's goin' on in there!

    Oh Noooo's!!!

I was trying to post these this morning when my computer coughed, sputtered, and died - a victim of complications from technological swine flu no doubt. Actually, I guess it's that time again - the graphics card tends to crap out every two years on the dot. Unfortunately, I can't get it replaced between now and heading back to the states, so I am on a borrowed machine until then. I love pencils, paper, and the whole lot, but AGH...for not having a computer with digital programs on it. sadness.

So here are a few doodles that I've been doing to practice rendering and just to play a bit with pastels. There were going to be more...but they're on the machine that won't even turn on without going green and squiggly. Sigh...

from a CA standpoint i really like how you plaster the page with lots of images...it makes the experience of viewing your sketchbook enjoyable because there's lots to see.

    great figures.

Spaztic - Thanks for stopping by!
Lex - Thanks. Still gots long long ways to go

Hurray for Steph Laberis tutorial. I've been trying to find some good digital cutout resources for AGES. Used to do the real thing but that takes forever. So does Digital. But it's nice not to have glue EVERYWHERE at the end of the day. And bits of paper stuck to the walls. And the rug. And the desk...and...yeah...everywhere.

Still got a few things to tweak...like the boobs. And I think I'm going to darken the hair "highlight"

Nice gestures and excellent vector work. Keep posting.

I didn't think it was possible to be called an artist when you have nothing to say. It's like being a writer who publishes individual words as books and expects to be praised for it.

Finally have had a chance to update. I've been in the middle of moving house and getting visas extended and bills sorted and employed...okay on a few of them. Less so on others. Oh well.

    Images from Italy.
    No particular order.
A few pages from Italy. LOADS of sketchbook pages scribbled in.
    Just can't scan them all.
And Moleskin is RUBBISH for anything not dry.
I think I will stick with my cheapy paper in the future. The Moleskin just didn't cut it. At all. Incidentally, I ended up with a couple of really weird, highly saturated sketches because the Moleskin wouldn't take wash without throwing up.

very good and funny sketchbook, love those monster funnies and the gestures you posted a while ago are fantastic.. also.. you.. you are a girl.

Standard moleskins and watercolor don't go well together.. try the watercolor moleskins or acrylic or gouache. But still, the italy sketches look good 8D

I just took a break to post this.
But sometimes I also draw stuff

It was fun to experiment with watercolour a bit.

Finally got some work done on this. It was originally a submission for the Lady's thunderdome but I had too many other things going on to finish it.

Still not finished esp as flash keeps crashing.
