well I couldn't think of a better site to ask this.
I decided to finally take the leap and look into colleges. Only problem is I am limited to online sources. So I would like to know what you guys think of these few colleges here.
    art institute online.
    West wood college online
    and Full sail online.
those are the only ones I could find so far.
I am not sure as to there prices yet, still have to research those. but I want to know what your guys advice is. so any help will be appreciated.

Westwood college? As in this place:

I'd avoid it like the plague.

Full Sail does not have the best reputation either. What, exactly, do you want to study?

be very wary of online programs for art. The only one I can think of that is an actual reputable school is Academy of Art University, which offers online degrees.

Why only online courses? Art is much easier learned with the aid of your peers and teachers in person. I've learned both in person and online (AAU pre-college), and I can say I learned truckloads more in person.

I can't do on campus learning, there are no reputable art college near where I live, not to mention I don't have the luxury(being an at home mom) to go to a grounds campus. so that would be why I am pursuing online. I would try and supplement as much of the life drawing by maybe taking a few in class classes here at the local college... but I would never be able to afford it's 120,000 tuition for a 4 yr degree.

I would like to do game art and design. I really want to do character designs for video games. been a dream since i was little, life took over though. mmm other than that. I'd love to go to Daves school . reputable, cheap, good learning.... but in FL so it's a no go.
Thank you guys for the help. any more would be great.

Oh man best advertising vids ever for westwood that is.

Why should being a stay at home mom stop you from pursuing an education? If there are no art schools around you, there probably aren't able game design firms either, meaning you'd have to move for a job anyways.

It's a big leap, but I'm sure you could arrange daycare and housing. You will get more financial aid as a parent and possibly scholarships as well.

And how great would it be for your child to see you pursuing your dreams!

that is true emifinan, I just don't want to miss out on raising my child, but i also want to pursue my dreams of doing character designs and what not for a major game company, so it's definitely something I will have to think long and hard about.

If you live in Orlando, I would probably recommend University of Central Florida and take a look into their Digital Media program (Visual Language Track). Beware though, it's hard to get into the track because you would need to submit a portfolio probably around your second year and other requirements you would need to fulfill. Personally, I had a bad experience but not just with the Digital Media program but the art program in general but I did enjoy the classes I took.
