    Corza,

One thing I've noticed, and it plagues my work as well, is that you are pretty good at shadowing and getting the mid-tones down, but you really need to start looking at the highlights in the studies and sketches. Those highlights really break up the image and push things forward and backward, as well as rounding your image. In my office we had an artist who was hanging up some of her work, so I went up really close to check the brush strokes and daubs and how she created the small details, you can learn a lot from looking at traditional paintings and applying those types of techniques to your digital artwork.

I would say this, try starting with a medium grey object, just bland. Then really start looking at where the hot and dark spots are on the object. I assume you know how to put a b&w filter over a color image, you can use this to not only check your value range on color images, but to mask color and turn images to b&w for value studies.

Also after talking with the aforementioned artist she gave me some good pointers about working traditionally on a digital canvas, work back to front, get the overall shapes blocked in, then refine, etc. Anyway, I'm glad to see you making progress, hope these crits help!

Hey Corza - Lots of potential here with your designs. Good luck with the starting over. Can you check out my sketchbook cos I am in a similar mentality about learning fundamentals and pm me if you think we could collaborate on any studies? It'd be good for me and I have a few tutorials and links that you might find useful (some posted on my sketchbook). Cool chow btw.

@Flame Thanks for all the advice man! I've taken it into account and I actually bought a midtone sketchbook and an acrylic white pen. Been studying my arse off with values.

@Dayle Thanks for your comment, I'll send a PM and check out your SB too

Alright, send me the link when you're done and I'll check them out.

Also I don't have a scanner due to some things that have happened recently, hopefully I'll get one soon...

EDIT: Sooner than I thought.. getting one now
