Feel the need to lay down some ground rules. So please read this post before participating!
1. Permission: Anyone who wants to participate just simply needs to post a link to his/her photo. Let's try to keep it to just portraits, so try to avoid nudity. No nudity if the owner of their mugshot says no nudity either. I need to stress that you need to post a link to participate/or point to your member profile if it has a photo of yourself
2. It's ok to make mistakes! You can make mistakes in this activity thread, it's the only way to learn to get better. For others, try to be constructive if you're giving criticism of posts. At the same time, those who are being drawn try not to be hurt if it doesn't come out as a masterpiece of some mild poking is done.
3. Don't just be a mugshot mooch, participate! If you're posting your mug, don't just do it to get free pics of yourself from other artists, you need to participate.
4. Have fun! If you want to do sequential art, a full blown portrait or a sketch just have fun with it.
** Special Rule: if you post here drunk you have to participate! - Yeah, you know who you are!
Rules may be modified at any time. (sorry for the redo - VB doesn't like copying posts with attachments)

This is an awesome idea. I just got really into drawing quick portraits a couple of days ago and I would love to do a bunch of these later. I'd start right now, but I'm in between classes and don't really have time at the moment.
By the way, every picture I've posted so far is free to use for anyone who wants them. The same goes for any pictures I may post in the future, unless for some strange reason I say otherwise (can't imagine why that would happen though, since if the picture is that bad I wouldn't put it on the internet in the first place).

i had a similar idea awhile back for this sort of thread. which i was going to pitch to have created if there was positive feedback from the community interested in participating. (mainly because i have an enormous amount of photos of users from this site saved to my computer that i feel slightly guilty about using as reference)
i think it ought to be in the activities section (but not the challenge arena), as it should be an opportunity to almost mentor people through various appraoches of how to tackle working from a photograph/creating likeness.
although the idea i had for this involved a user, let's say you, picking one image and having everyone work on the same thing for that week. not really with the goal of having a poll or compitition at the end, but just so everyone can get a grasp of how other people work from the same starting point.
but i dunno if that would be the best way to proceed. as it'd involve you either digging through the 'post your pics' thread and asking for permission, or having a subthread for image suggestions (much like the ideas for CHOW topics, etc)
you should take the initiavie to host this properly, as i think it can be a valuable addition to the website.
I was thinking this was kind of a lounger activity so that the rules are looser, which would give you more flexibility. For example, I thought yours and Buckweisel's comics were rather hilarious involving that thread that spawned this.
I'll have to draw some peeps...yay for something to do at work!
*Updated sketch* Still unfinished...realized the right eye position was wrong, and created more problems for myself attempting to correct it. XD Would like to get it a little more polished before I quit though.
